A Fast question: Has anyone ever swapped a Grand Prix/Bonneville HUD display into a GA?
Im getting some details about adding a HUD display, and I know another company makes an aftermarket one, but Im investigating OEM options first .
Tis all.I searched and didn't get anything, so hence I ask.

Heads Up Display
i believe it would project your "gauge cluser" on your windshield so you dont have to look down to see how fast your going/rpms/gas ect...

I remember someone doing it on here somewhere. I don't remember any of the details though.

depends on what your wanting to display. Either way I forsee having to use a PCM out of the car that has the HUD to be able to make it work. It will have to be piggybacked some how

sounds like a waste of time to me...but i guess if you feel like doing it, more power to you.

i looked into doing it, still ahve the parts i pulled out of a 97 grand prix gt that had a hud... not a gtp though...i had a link to an aurua (sp?) oldsmobile that the guy had one put in...
the windshield will need a special tint, the dash will have to be modded a little bit, then the computer piggyback or how ever you can get it donw, and then the basic wiring and control wiring.

Not correct, Its true that vehicles that come factory with huds have a different variation in the windshield due to how much it reflects but a normal windshield works just as well. I know because my old GTP had the hud and went I wrecked it we just put a normal windshield in. Its almost not worth the extra money and worked just as good. Its something to do with the clarity!

The special window is what is known as a "Combiner Glass". this basically is a window with a bit of extra reflectivity for the HUD to show, especially in brighter conditions.
However, a normal winshield will suffice and is reflective enough. I remember someone in the AF that I knew who printed out a green F-16 Hud on a black background and taped it to his dashboard to make it look like he had a F-16 HUD on his car.

Exactly, the biggest obstacle I see in making it work, Would be to remove th e dash cut out a sufficient hole to place all the components and actually do a decent job of making it look like it was meant to be in that place.

Thats the most difficult part, but nothing a little fiberglass cannot help ;).

just a heads up... here is what i beleive you would have to work with... the box in the lower left of the pic with the wires im not sure about but it was connected to atleast one of the wires coming out of the actual display....

and to give a better picture of how deep you need to go compared to a mt dew can.

I had no idea the HUD display was that large.
But here's my question: Is there a wire harness in the N-body PCM or BCM to plug that into?I ask because im sure Grand Prix's and Bonnevilles have the HUD wire harness , because they are built OEM with HUD's.
But to my recollection, there is no N-body built that came with a HUD from the factory.Hence the problem.

You will need to do some wire working to tap into the particular data sources.
