Just wondering since in the near future the government could mandate use of E20 as a primary fuel... does it work with the 3400? We have it already in Wisconsin and just curious if I use will it have ill effect. It is at least 50 cents cheaper per gallon. I already know E85 is an unwelcomed fuel for this engine, but is it true our PCM are able to adjust air/fuel ratios up to at least 20% on ethanol?

All over the places gasoline stations are selling E10 (without that name) as regular gasoline. It causes a decrease in fuel economy, but I've yet to see or hear of any damage done by it. I wouldn't base much off of that though; it has been roughly a year since that started.

E10 has been around in Wisconsin for at least 8 years now, they did it in place of the MMT formulation that they used in Milwaukee and Green Bay and the big cities. That doesn't explain much though about E20.

What I'm getting at is that these engines are already running a small ratio of ethanol. I'd be inclined to assume that E20 wouldn't be a catastrophic increase in ethanol over E10, but that is merely an assumption.

i dont see the government ever mandating that we HAVE to use ethenol as if you think about it they are still using fuel in some ways to make the ethenol but thats an arguement for another section of the forum. I wouldnt push the ethenol on your motor as i have friends that have had things ranging from wrong fuel guage readings, to gunked up fuel injectors, ect. never a blown motor knock on wood, but personally i wouldnt want to be the first one it happens to either.

I guess I phrased it wrong. I think its the EPA that wants to push to having E20 available or something like that. I would like to run E20 in it only to have a cleaner output and maybe save some green. But it seems like our engine are not quite built for it. Thanks for the replies though.
