Hello fellow Grand Am owners. This is Chris here. Its nice to be in a place where I can be proud of my 1994 Red Grand Am GT coupe with 128,000 miles. She has had a hard life. Was in 2 front end collisions when she belonged to the previous owners in my family, and repaired. I am a 22 year old guy with not a lot of money but I have done several things to help her survive including regular servicing, new heater core, new brake rotors and pads, window motor replacement, countless little things, and just general TLC etc. Though she has some issues, (major ones to do with the suspension and cooling system). Also my drivers window doesn't work, again. My passenger power window barely works (when I help it along it goes up). The hood is not put on correctly and it rattles furiously. In fact the whole car rattles like crazy from poor plastic fit and worn out struts and strut bearings. The exterior panels all have obscenely large gaps in them. My rear taillight looks like it got knocked off and reattached by my sister. My rear drum brakes lock-up sometimes causing unstable braking in the snow. My alloy wheels are stained and look as if someone used wheel acid on them. And my steering wheel started to wobble because a bolt dropped out of my steering column which warranted the removal of my steering wheel, and I had to drop 250$ to get it fixed by my local GM dealer because every shop I took it to said only a GM dealer could fix this issue......only after one of those incompetent shops broke the plastic around my steering column, so now it looks as if my car was "hot wired".........I still love her though. Much is forgiven.....and easily fixed with parts from the junk yard.. My poor old Grand Am.....shes my sweet heart. We depend on each other. She was my dad's car from new, and took me to my first day of 3rd grade! My dad passed away in 2002 and the car went to my sister who then gave her to me.
My point for being here is, that it is my dream to systematically fix all of the major issues on her at some point, or as needed. Also I wanna try to do as much as possible by myself because I no longer trust most shops around here. And try to enjoy her as best as is I can. i have put 40,000 miles on her since my ownership and my 3.1 still runs strong.
Best regards to everyone and Hello!-Chris
