For the longest time, I'd been thinking that Albany was way out somewhere on the west coast somewhere, like California, or whatever. Then I started reading the thread on the history of this site (By the way Sunrunner... Yer missing page 3. :P)

From where I'm at its about a 6-7 hour drive... Thats about 2 tanks of gas one way. I just may go once I find out when this is. Plan for a nice day, would ya? ;)

there is a slight possibility I will be bumming a ride with Shawn or Kelly this year.... as I actually have vacation now :) Or maby save Shawn & I both some cash and have him drive here, then take my GA with the Eco down, burn less gas, and share a room too??? never know....

Yea, but I figured I could entice him to come if we took my car from Moncton on to Albany, since I only have to fill up half as much as he does :) maby if we planned it all out it would be easier to convince our better halves its a good idea :)

Oh she did! but if you remember, we got engaged last March.... and we will be planning a wedding sometime in the future, just not sure when yet, and obviously, that will take the money if necessary :)

Post up when you are traveling. We could meet up at the rest stop east of Canandaigua. I usually head that way around noon-ish on Thursday.

Thursday night is a parking lot get together with light shows, beer tasting and painting John's truck! :D

Well, a guy was fired from work the other day. Now theres 4 of us running 12 hour shifts, 24/7, every single day of the year. There used to be 6 of us. One left on his own accord, this last guy was terminated. So its all up in the air for me now. :/

EDIT: Well, we will be bringing someone else on, but its a 3 month babysitting issue, which starts the day the new individual starts... So who knows.

Wow... so I had pretty much decided that '07 was my last Albany trip, that was until I started reading this thread. Now I am all undecided, lol. I guess if there is a good turnout from the Maritimes then I will have to join in the Caravan as usual.

I’ll be going to Albany for as long as they keep holding it. I look forward to this every year. It’s good to see a lot of old faces and make new friends, Lots of beautiful car to check out. Port wine, cigars, I could go on an on.

Just a suggestions have you ever considered doing the track on friday and picnic on saturday? There would probably be less test and tune cars at the track on friday and everyone would get more runs in plus everyone is so drained from the track after the sat night fun is usually a little tame.

I asked the same thing a couple of years ago and found out that renting the track on a Friday was way too expensive. You would have to pay for all the timing, scoring and safety personnel.

Getting a area to hold the Show and Shine is no picnic either (get it? Picnic! I crack myself up sometimes). They ask for a couple of dates and find out later what one is granted.

I always figured Saturday night party was a little more quite cause most people are gonna get up early to leave the next day. Don't think it has much to do with the track. I know the Canadians leave around dawn and most others are out before noon.

I have a dinning suggestion I’ll throw out here.
Why not have, a parking lot Pizza party on Thursday night and then make a reservation for 50-70 at Smokey Bones for Friday night, this way dinner won’t be so confusing for everyone?

The new problem thats come up with this is that they're finding it extremely hard to find someone to work on this bench. The requirements are pretty strict though. The problem is we deal with a lot of linux boxes, we've got custom software for each machine, and of the people interviewed, most canidates that COULD work the job HATE the idea of the shift work. I'll have to talk with my boss and manager (Boss being the fiance) and see if I can go play.

I disagree and I would like to see some organized events as to where the majority of the people will be but of course, if people don't want to come, that is fine but I would LOVE to have everyone show up at the same place as watching everyone "do their own thing" is always unorganized and a pain if you happen to miss out or not in the right group ;) :lol: ... more discussion on this topic is certainly needed :)

I agree...this would make it easier for a local guy like me to know when and where to show up. :D I always feel like I miss most of the meet by not staying at the hotel. I might even spring for a room one of the nights just to be able to :toast: :drunkard:

well I was suppost to be getting it suspended on july 1st, but I it until my court date in december and then they will decide if I get to keep it or not.

I live in London Ontario and I checked my vacation schedule, and my co-worker has taken that week off which means I can't take it off. Next year I will be keeping watch and make plans accordingly. I bought a hood decal that I'm hoping to drag someone in this weekend to help me with it. Takes two people apparently. I already spent some unexpected money on this car already might as well start modifying it to my tastes :D
