air conditioning question

I am recharging the air conditioning system in my 93, I bought the change over kit and when I try to charge it, the compressor wont take it, I am trying to put it in the port on the compressor, which according to the directions should be the right one, I have the car running and the airconditioning on full blast, I tryed changing the valve stem in the port thinking that it was bad but it still wont take it. The air conditioning worked originally but when I pulled the motor I lost it all so everything should still be in working order, any ideas could I be putting it in on the wrong port?

It could be your compressor went out on you. Don't feel bad mine is out too and I live in Texas, we've hit 100 degrees a few times already :)

thats what I am thinking now, I never really checked if it was comming on or not since it was working before I pulled the motor but I see its not kicking on at all, is there just one wire pigtail going to it right, I know some others have another one going on the back, I just want to make sure I have all wires hooked up before I buy a new one
