Ok well i installed it friday and then saturday night, one of the manifold-to-exhaust bolt studs completely broke. So today i spent most of my time fixing it. I had to drill out the old bolt and find a replacement stud. Well i put it all back together and now the downpipe doesn't fit right on the exhaust manifold. It seals all good around the bottom and sides but it has exhaust shooting up towards the hood. So what is my solution for this. Should i go to a muffler shop and have them weld or something or what? I just need some advice or guidance.:???:

My suggestion would be to just go to the shop and have them fix it real nice, but then again I am no expert.

Thats probley what im going to do. My friend wants me to take him to this muffler shop so he can get an estimate on duals for his 94 thunderbird so i will just get it fixed there. My car is driveable but it sounds horrible and my gf said it sounds like a rice lol. That was kind of funny since she doesn't know much about cars.

i too had that same problem. So i took it to a muffler shop and had them build a new down pipe using the flange now it fit like a glove. So that is what I would recommend

Is your new DP OE spec? Or did you ask them to make it bigger? If so how much bigger? Thanks.

XXXchieferXXX Question.

When you tightened up the Bolt that broke. Did you tighten one side tight, then tighten down the other. If so thats why the bolt broke. That and the fact the the bolts there get hot then cold then hot then cold....etc... after a while it makes the metal brittle so to speak. So they brake eaiser.

Working on cars tip to remember. Never thighten one side then the other of any thing. That will brake a Therm-stat cap/lid/cover every time. Always try to tighten down things equal. It takes longer.......but things will hold/last longer. Gasket seal soooo much better that way also. Equal pressure on all parts of the paper gasket from things tightened equal is the only way paper will last.

Good luck with the Exhaust....Do you know what happened to bend out the area that no longer fits.

ALSO drive with a window open a little till you get it fixed. With the exhaust leak where it is, it could be blowen by the wind into the car for you to breath.

You can't use that big bore down pipe with the stock cat. Got to get a larger one. I at first thought it would work with the rest of the stock system and found out when I saw it.

well I had them try out the stock down pipe from a w41 it was 2.25 so i told them to make it the same size but make it out of new material since the old one was alittle beat. I did have them make all of the exhaust 2.25 from the down pipe to the muffler.

Well i had it fixed today. I needed a different downpipe from what they gave me. And now my exhaust is complete, including a high-flow cat. too.

great to hear it. Now i did not see what muffler you want to but what muffler did you go with also can you get a sound file on it. I want to replace my flowmaster 60. to a better sounding muffler but also a quiter one. Thanks in advance.

I will see about the sound file this weekend. But i have gone with magnaflow and it gives a deeper growl to it. I like it a lot. It doesn't have that rice sound at all. I have a lot of peoplle assume that i have a V6. Hope that helps.
