So. Ive been thinking about this and I noticed when I went and looked at a Bonneville GXP how much the shifter looks similar to the one from the grand am. I wonder if it would fit in place? Its got the nice polished top. I never researched it too much in detail so if its been posted about before...My bad! Hopefully I can find a nice one locally and see if its as easy as it looks.

I bet it will fit. Not many differences between GM shifters. I've had a Camaro one on my 94 for a while then a switched to a 99+ GAGT one. So I bet that will fit as well.

Thats what I thought as well. It should be interesting...You can probably order them through GM still. Might be a little pricey though.

i tried to put one of those in my grand am several years ago but the dealer wanted $60 or $80 for it. i went to a junk yard and for a replacement leather one for $10.

Could it be the newer Bonneys?

Bad News
Looks like the chrome shifter is only on the newer 05'+ GXP Bonnevilles. Not the SLE ,SSEI, or any other trim level.

in the original post he stated it was a GXP model that he looked at? What difference does it make anyways...when he goes to buy the shifter knob...he just says he needs the chrome one off the GXP Bonnies.

To save on costs, the shifters and the shafts for them are usually one size. The bonnie's AT shifter handle should fit just fine. If it doesn't, then its nothing that cannot be fixed with some modification.

I posted the trim information because if someone raids a junkyard to get
the chrome shifter, they may not know that only the GXP has that shifter.
Its bad news (to an extent) 'cause you have to find a wrecked GXP to get the part.

Im sure if he truely wants it, he will goto a pontiac dealership and just buy one from the parts dept.
