View Full Version : '03 GAGT Horn not working - is cold weather the culprit?

I've got an '03 GAGT and I noticed that when I locked my car with the remote yesterday morning the horn sounded a little weak compared to usual. I figured that was just because we got well below freezing temps. the night before (down to -2 degrees) so I didn't think too much of it. However, yesterday when I was driving home from work (temps. near 30 degrees) some yahoo pulls out in front of me so I did the natural thing and blew my horn - well needless to say it didn't work. I tried it a few more times and nothing. When I got home and locked it with the remote again, the car locked but no horn. I haven't had a chance to check the fuse yet because it was dark by the time I got home last night (no garage) and I'm already here at work this morning. Could it possibly just be that it's frozen due to the cold weather? I've never experienced this problem with my old '00 GAGT and I had it up here for 3 years in this weather. This is my second winter up here with the '03. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much! ~ laura

PS - I did a search but didn't find anything close to my problem so I figured I'd try a new post to see if anyone could help. If there is another thread out there regarding this issue that someone knows about please feel free to link me :)

I have noticed the same thing here in chicago once in a while with my alarm speaker. I think it is just the cold weather, I am glade I am not alone. :)

It's -25 here this morning and my horn works. I've had them fill with snow, but just plain cold weather shouldn't stop it from working.

It should be warmer over the weekend. Try the horn then.

The horn is between the headlight and the right front tire. Pull the headlight to check for voltage at the horn.

Thanks much - I'll check that tonight. I'm going to stop at the folks house and borrow their garage after I get out of work.

Before you pull the headlight, check for blown fuses. There are three fuse boxes, one at each end of the dash and one under the hood.

Removing a headlight can be hard. Installing a headlight can be impossible. Make sure you know how to do it before touching them. Some people have broken things by not knowing how it's done.

Here's a picture showing the location of the horns.

Good news - it was the fuse :)

I hadn't had a chance to check it, but soon as I pulled in the garage I popped the hood and took the lid off the fuse box and found the blown fuse!! Thanks Jim and everyone who replied ~ laura
