I posted a problem awhile back about my car having high RPM's. One of the answers was that it was probably an air leak. Does anyone know how to determine where the air leak is coming from? I am scared to drive my car sometimes cuz the darn thing is so rev'd up. Even when I am at a red light the car is rev'd high. Any help is mucho appreciated. My hubby can't fix a thing on this car, so it is all up to me to do it and I am learning a bunch from this awesome forum!! Thanks, Lori

If it's a vacuum leak try and get either a smoke gun or burn green leaves close to the engine. Follow the smoke...

If you have a v6 engine check the "T" directly behind the throttlebody for cracks, it is very common to have cracks in it.
A SAFE way to find vacume leaks is to spray a fine mist of water with a hand sprayer around the hoses and upper intake area with the car running. if the rpm changes with the spray you found your leak.
I hope this helps. good luck.

I use Carb Cleaner to spray around things and listen for a change in RPM's.
The leak could be the Intake gasket. So lightly (CARFULLY it catches fire) spray the cleaner along the motor and the intake gasket. Also around hoses like vacumm lines. IF it's vacumm, the leak should be between the Air filter and the motor.
Myself I like to use a Doc's stephoscope to listen for leaks and things. A 10 dollor pair works great for a car. There sold at almost any Medical store that rents beds,walkers...etc...You would hear something like wind through a straw, whistleing.
