Used a cell phone so sorry about the quality, the computer is working 100% well with everything, GPS/radio/movies/wireless internet/3G internet on the road/bluetooth/300+gigs of music/Front end to organize and make it easy to use on the road. Basically anything XP can do, this baby can. Any thoughts/comments/questions are welcome. i know the wiring needs a bit of clean up but this is it finally:

thanks for the comments, my next projects are wire cleanup, angel eye headlights/foglights, alteza brake lights, and i am still debating the sc/t kit. i think the extra lowering on the sc/t kit will be bad in my area, i live in the mountains and theres a lot of dirt roads and terrible bumps...
also going to try and make the computer voice activated, i think i found a way to do it, i just gotta get up the motivation.
again, thanks for the comments, i appreciate any compliments or criticisms :)

What FE and skin are you using for the Carpc? I'm about to stick one in my Vibe. Have everything, just need to install.

Since the GA isnt a daily driver, that will be second.

Looks good. But..I wouldn't have painted the vents. The rings would have been enough.
Still looks good though.
You should clear your heater knobs. They are red once cleared. But I'm sure you knew that.

I got a question for ya..

From what I can see(correct me if im wrong) you got yourself a double din radio bezel and got that flatscreen in there w/gps and all that...and thats EXACTLY what ive been looking to do.

What year radio bezel is that?

Did you have to buy more than just the radio bezel (im assuming if you try to lower the HVAC the slot in the back where the HVAC sits would not match with the new bezel, it would be to low and offset. (unless its just hanging by screws...ive never seen a grand am without the radio bezel off, but in most cars its slots that match up with the bezel)

Anything else you had to do, can you list it if you dont mind.
If its not a double din let me know what kind of deck you used to fit.

i am using the road runner front end, and i forgot the name of the skin im using, i havnt messed with it in a while since everything started working, i recommend the default skin though, it is more compatible with everything.

For the screen section, that is a 2005 GT1 bezel, i think all the 99-05 are the same though. i just took it out by pulling on it, removed the radio, and then aligned the 7" touch screen to it and JB Welded it in there (its an amazing glue) and it holds perfectly.
i think you might be mistaking it is a whole computer behind that screen, the computer is in the trunk next to the subs on the left. i ran audio/video/usb cables from the trunk through the trimming and into the glove box and then to the screen for video. i also have a dvd/cd burner/reader in the glove box for CD's, and also a usb hub for my thumbdrive/external harddrive so i can add music to it. also theres a mini keyboard/touchpad combo that sits in my glove box. I hope to eventually put it on a sliding rail so when i open the glove box, it will pop out into your lap, suspended by the rail.

let me know any questions, im happy to answer, i spent alot of R&D on this im glad to share

MX, he has a 2005, so it's a stock double DIN bezel. 99-00 have a 1.5 DIN bezel, 01-05 have a double DIN. Spartan, he thought you had an older year, to convert 99-00 to double DIN you have to move the bracing for the HVAC controls down.

Details on the car pc itself? Did you build it from scratch?

SpartanGrandAM

i built it myself, i spent a month trying to custom build a plexiglass case before i gave up and bought another one.
EN1500 motherboard, 1.5ghz processor, 1 gig of ram, onboard video/sound, 3.5" 250gig harddrive. usb: gps, bluetooth, linksyswireless, keyboard/touchpad combo, dvd/cd reader/burner, jumpdrive for quick transfers.
i probably left something out, ill write up a walk through on the entire process if theres a demand, but i dont think many people like having a computer in their car.

Don't count it out I think its the wave of the future look at some high end car manufacturers putting in stock head units with hard drives...I think every car will go that way eventually it just makes more sense and its getting cheaper and cheaper to do it these days. How much did you spend all together?

if i did it right the first time i would have spent around 700-800, i spent around 1000 though with all the screw up's.
