I doubt it was a GA. they have never came ttopped and to do all the frame work to make them stable, it would be about as much as the car is worth.

Im not stupid and I know what I saw, it was definitly a grand am, and it had a roof like this http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/images/92formula.jpg, a t top. I dont have a picture but if I see it again Ill take one

Would be VERY hard to pull off on a Grand Am since GAs have a frame around the parimeter of the side glass. Vehicles with T-Tops usually do not so there is no bar when the roof is off and the glass is down.
Not to mentiona s others have said to cut into the roof would endanger the structural integrity of the vehicle.

Well just because it endangers the structural integrity of the car doesn't mean someone won't do it... Look at those who cut springs to lower their ride for a "cooler" appearance.

Anythings possible.
Its likely a targa top(think Toyota Supra ) with a reinforcing bar in the middle. That makes more sense than a T-Top from a build perspective, that makes just one roof panel to snap in place versus two. A 2-door GA with a targa would look pretty bada$$...If someone's spent the kind of dough to pull this mod off, more power to them.Id like to see a pic just for curiosity's sake.
That said, I don't want to be in said car if/when it has an accident.

T-Tops and Targa tops are different from each other

I have never seen a Targa or T-Top concept GA.

T-tops are awesome, but yeah, a lot of effort to install into a Grand Am. A Grand Prix would be slightly easier. There is probably some shop out there and an owner who would have the $$$ and desire to T-top a GA.

John, doesn't the orange concept sc/t pretty much have a targa band?
TA^Guy

No, a Targa is simply a removable roof panel. Like what they use on Corvettes and old Porsches. It's basically like a T-Top but without the bar in the center. That orange one is a Convertable with a Roll Bar (more for structural integrity than actual roll over protection).
This is a Porsche Targa.

I was thinking targa band because of this from the wiki entry on targa top:
In common usage, any piece of metal or trim which rises up from the side of a car and continues in an uninterrupted line over the roof and down the other side may be called a targa band, or sometimes a wrapover band.

um, describing a targa top is as easy as referencing the orange supra from Fast & Furious... everyone has seen that movie
Either way, if you saw it once, hopefully you'll see it again so keep a camera in ure car, or get a celly w/ a camera :)
