GA sputtering

I found this post on one of my local boards and thought that I would put it here for someone to take a stab at.



"My neighbor has 2 grand am's with the quad 4 and in the past 2 weeks both cars sputter. Above 40 mph and the 2 door runs fine. A complete tune up has been done on both cars with no luck. He even changed out the fuel pump on one of them and replaced alot of other stuff with no luck. Can't read the codes for some reason. Says the dealer has to. Is there an emission reset for these vehicles that anyone knows about. I had to have my cutlas doe several years ago and dont remember what they did.

If both started missing close to the same time.......did he buy gas from the same store for both cars.

The coils under the IDI or if there is dust like stuff on the outside of the coil housing. Coils or housing could be a problem.

But at this point I kind of wonder about the gas used on the last fill up.
