Today was slow at work so I pulled in the GA and pulled all the decals off except the Drivers door ones which were off for a while now. I goo-b-gone'd the crap outta the stuff and got most of it off, except for the drivers door stuff:???:. Would I be able to get this buffed out or what? I've never buffed a car before and don't want to try it on my black car lol.....unless anyone here wants to do it, I'll have to take it to a shop. Thanks for the help

Try WD40 or paint thinner, goo gone is weak
I used Nvr-dull on mine, when I removed them.

Since the driver side was off, I would suspect that someone tried to glue them back on once. You don't know what glue was used. What does it look like, ie - color, hardness, etc.
Just keep chipping at it until you find something that will soften/remove it without damage to the clear coat. A hair dryer might do it or WD40 or peanut butter or simple green.

I guess more is there than I thought. I washed it last night after if so I didn't harm the paint. I would like to get the paint buffed so remove the scratches and everything anyways. I will try to use some of the other methods but if anyone would like to buff the car, have at it please lol

I would do a full paint reconditioning for you for dirty cheap. But your pretty far away.
Buffing it though wont remove the residue that left on there from the badges. I suspect just like Jim that that badge was glued on by the previous owner or dealership.

I'm clueless about debadging and removal of those damn dealership decals but I know I want them off. I have a bright silver GA - what's the best method for removal? Sounds like you guys know what you're doing.

Wait for summer when it's warm and gently pull them off while using fishing line or a plastic knife to cut the adhesive. Remove the remaining glue with goo gone, WD40, peanut butter or good old rubbing with a fingernail.

Peanut butter is full of peanut oil. The brown part makes it stick and the oil loosens the adhesive.
Best part is that you can call the neighbors dog over to clean it off. :P

Its not smart to charge anything unless you really have to.

^X3. Keeping your Credit Cards without a balance is the best way to do things. The whole "Charge It!" mentality is what is putting the United States in a credit crunch and is leading us to a recession... Everyone's throwing plastic around without realizing that they have to pay it back.

Having credit cards with no balance can be just as bad.

to get back on topic, i recently debadged the V6 H.O. on my car. I used a bug and tar cleaner to get it off. I don't know how easy goo gone is, but the bug and tar used a lot of elbow grease.

I guess no one sensed my sarcasm ....oh well. We all learn something to late, credit cards sure did sound good at the time

1 or 2 isnt bad but if you have like 10 credit cards it dont look good even if there is no balance, to much open credit isnt good.

Alot of people get into trouble with CC's, never understood why though.

well they were easy to get and I was a full time student with a full time job and no money to afford gas and food with loans and everything. I also did charge most of my wedding and am still paying on it. Like i said it was a life long lesson that i learned and once my wife and I get these things paid off they are gone with the wind

Well the more credit cards you have can be bad. Lets say you go to buy a house. They look at your credit and see you have 10 open accounts and see that each card has a $10,000 limit. $10kX10=$100k. So you have $100k possible credit. They look at that and say this guy could buy this house and max out those cards and not afford to pay. At least that's what I understood from an accountant I know. anywhooo

Thats pretty much how my broker explained it to me. Before i bought my house i closed 6 credit cards that i hadnt used in years. My credit score jumped quite a bit.

you are describing 2 different sections of your credit score. The more you apply for credit the lower your score is. They also look at how much of your credit you have used not your total available credit.

Katie, you can use peanut butter to reblacken plastic trim on your car, I think it was Josh that showed that trick. Put the peanut butter on, wait five or ten minutes, wipe it off, and put carnauba wax on. Should work good for unpainted mirrors and window trim.

Blackhawk, my mirrors are unpainted, and was wondering if I could get them high gloss without having them painted. Will that peanutbutter trick work with that, or is it just to get them back to the original black...? Ive never heard of that before.

02-16-2008, 09:26 PM
The peanut butter gets it back to the original black, the wax will seal it and should give it a shine. I haven't gotten to try this, and probably never will as I'm painting my mirrors when I do my bumper.

You'll crave peanut butter when the windows are open, just a warning.

haha, my two favorite flavors...peanutbutter and carnuba wax. A friend of mine said that you can take a buffer to them, and that would do the same thing...anyone with experience with that?

It may help, but the oil in the peanut butter would probably work better, and you don't have to mask anything or really do any work at all for the peanut butter.
