Modify your question. What are you talking about stock lean?

Are you talking about making the car run leaner?

Air to Fuel ratio

air/fuel ratio. well if you add more fuel it gets richer, meaning you expend more fuel, when you go leaner you expend less fuel.

Go too lean your car detonates and goes boom, go too rich and your car spits out smoke.

Yes, it does effect gas mileage depending on which direction you go tweaking it.

Assuming you want to know what the stock ideal AFR is, it's commanded at 14.7:1 aka stoich...unless you're in PE (power enrichment) then it will be more rich (around 13:1 or lower). There's no real way to tell your AFR readings unless you have a wideband O2 sensor. Your stock narrow band O2 sensor will be able to tell you if you're not at stoich but it won't give you the exact AFR.

and like spy said, leaner=less fuel injected, more power, and better mpg but it can cause damage to your engine if you're too lean, and rich=more fuel but can hurt performance and decrease mpg but generally is safer.

btw if you wanted to know what the "stock number" is you should have asked so in the first place. Don't just assume we know what you're asking about. You also asked how it would effect your MPG and spy gave you a good answer, then you said you already knew?

Lean does not mean AFR. Lean describes a higher AFR relative to a given AFR.

Was that a question or a run-on sentence? Or a sentence fragment. I'm not sure what you're asking.

Stock AFR is commanded to be stoich (14.7:1) during closed loop idle and cruising. It is commanded 13:1 during fuel enrichment mode. Verified on my car via both wideband and OBD 1.5 data.

I know that.. wanting to know what the stock number is..

Then let me pose this to you. You probably should have been more specific in your inquiry.
