I was recently in a bad wreck, totaled my honda, and my buddy who works at a car dealer sold me a trade-in, which was a 1996 grand am se 2dr v6, for $500.

He sold it to me on friday, and I just got around to driving it around, and I have a few questions..

I took it to my mechanic, because the check engine light was on, and I felt a grinding when accelerating. He ran the code and it was a catalytic inconsistency or something, so my buddy who works at a muffler shop put a new cat on for $50.

I was also told it needs new mounts, engine, transaxel, and tranny mounts, I believe all the mounts are bad.

What is the cheapest place to get new mounts at?

Also, should I be using plus (89) or prem (91) gas in my grand am? Or is regular 87 octane okay?

I really like this car, its in great shape, paint and body are perfect, and its pretty fast, I am diggin it.

I am putting in a new sound system tonight!!!

87 octane is just fine. That's all the average street driven Grand Am needs. :)
