This fall I will be going to tech school for automotive collision and repair, and I'am poundering about selling my GA and buying a repairable to work on during school, but I want some input, and help finding the right car, I want good horsepower and torque potential, with some good aftermarket products, I want to make this a Driver/first show car

If I was going for collision repair I'd pick up an old school car, you'll have the means and tools to do any body work you need to do easily. I was toying with the idea of getting an old datsun 510 or 240z but gave up on it b/c most of them need major rust/body repair I don't have the patience or knowledge for that or the money to pay someone to do it. I have a thing for classic imports, depends what you are into you need to do some research first and narrow it down. Most older cars have plenty of aftermarket

Well I was thinking like a 00-07 car, I would rather 6 cylinders but it really doesnt matter, but my grandpa said I could have this old like 1940's cheifhead or somthing like that looks like an old mafia car that was been barn sat with tarps over it, very any rust and in fair shape with no motor, that Iam thinking would be nice with the 318 that is sitting all by itself in the barn as well

Get something old 00-07 is too common I'd rather something you don't see on the road every day and you'll have the body shop skills to restore it so why not I wouldnt turn down a free car unless the frame is completely rusted out

The frame is not rusted out and Iam planing on restoring that old car since I have an enigine to drop in it, that is very uncommon I have never seen that car anywhere else in my life but I also want a car that I could use as a daily driver and something that could easily put out good hp numbers somthing in the higher 200s, I already work in a body shop during the summer and get great deals on part orders and paint, so it wouldnt be difficult to repair a car as a daily driver while restoring this old one

If possible, try making the GA your DD, and then use the Chiefhead as your project car. Its very difficult to work on a project car and try to have that same project car be your DD. You'll find yourself getting into the situation where you have nothing to drive on periods of major body/engine work. Plus, if you keep your GA, you'll have more time to devote to the chiefhead, time that you'll definately need to complete the project well.
There are body modifications you can do the GA that will involve getting into the field of body working if you must play with the DD. With custom fabrication, you can accomplish quite a bit. Plus the free paint, you can easily get a nice paint job that will accentuate the agressiveness of the GAGT quite well. (Performance red tintcoat w/some metal flake anyone? ;))
