I was wondering if this code is covered under GM warranty? I have extended warranty till 2008 or 80,000 KM and we are not at 80,000 KM yet.
I just had this car in the shop at the begining of January and got a module fixed because it came up with a misfire code and they replaced the spark plugs and the module and I thought it was the evap again code as the service engine light came on the next day and I didn't want to get dinged 126.00 for them to tell me it was the gas cap but got a scanner yesterday and I get a P0141. could something they did caused this to happen?
Thanks

I don't think anything they did would cause it.

Was the warranty until Dec. 2008, or just Dec. 31, 2007? When they say 2008 or 80,000 Kms, they don't mean until both are fulfilled, they mean whichever comes first.

Warranty expires oct 2008 or 80,000 and we have done under 80,000 KM
Would this be a warranty repair??

P0141 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
Yes, the O2 sensors (you have 2, one on the exhaust manifold and one on the catalytic converter) should be covered by any warranty, if it's a faulty sensor; warranties don't cover damage.
And O2 sensors are not just by the extended warranty.
Here in the states, EVERY car has a 'silent warranty' required by the Federal EPA that the emissions system (inlcuding cat, O2 sensors, spark plugs, etc.) be covered by the car manufacturer against failure to maintain emissions within limits for 10 years/100k MILES; regardless of any 'expressed' or written warranty.
I dunno about Canada; you don't say your location, but you speak in that weird foriegn toungue, 'metric' :D
Anyhow, this code indicates there's something wrong with the little electric heater that's part of the rear (post-cat) O2 sensor, OR THE CIRCUIT LEADING TO/FROM IT.
Raise and support the car safely, and inspect the wires serving the post-cat O2 sensor.
Follow those wires to the connector, and unplug/replug the connector several times.
It's often not the device that's faulty, but rather the circuit to it. A wire damaged in a snow drift, or a connector fouled with water, can cause this same code.
And warranties only cover failed PARTS, not damage over which the manufacturer has no control.
And whenever work is done at a GM dealership related to the EPA warranty, if the part was covered then they must rebate to you the 'diagnostic fee' and not charge the 'deductible' regardless of the terms of the 'extended warranty.'
Non-GM shops aren't covered by this little gem of the US law.
I dunno aboot Canada.
Hope this helps,
-Rick
