well IMO how much do you like your car and how long do you plan on keeping it? those are the questions you need to answer before you decide to spend money on it... Me personally I LOVE my 99 GA GT and it has 88K on it. I keep spendin and spendin on mine, but that's cause i absolutely love that car and i plan on keepin it for quite a while!

Thats pretty much the bottom line huh. Really its up to you if you think its worth fixing up the car. Do you plan on keeping it fixed up and deal with what time and mileage brings or are you looking for something newer?
Personally I love my GA. If the motor blew out I'd rather spendthe cash on a new motor than buying a new car.

If you want to keep it forever and make it a showcar that's great.
But, if you put a ton of money into it you will never get it back when you sell it no matter what you do to it or how nice it is.
The value of any car is not what's in it. It is mostly based on age/mileage.
ya i really like my ga...idk y im so attached to it being my first car in all but ya i kinda wana keep it for awhile so i appreciate ur comments...helped me out alot...THNKS

Time to dump it.
Why?
* It's a GA; it's gonna continue to wear-out and break.
* It's a V6; gonna leak the LIM gasket.
* It's an auto; get a five- or six-speed and learn to DRIVE!!!
* It's got 100k+ miles; more and more parts are gonna break and wear with time and milage.
* Very few young people respect american iron as show cars, so even if it were primo/lowered/tuned/painted/shaved/upholtestered/neon'd/and had a 1000W system, you still wouldn't get any respect 'cuz it doesn't say 'Acura' or 'Toy'.
First and foremost: You seem like a gearhead gonnabe, and I think that's great.
But this is your first car, and though some puppy-love attachment is fine and normal, it's time to taset something new.
I assure you that you'll get more enjoyment over the next 40 years (at which time you'll be MY age :roll: ) if you continually buy and sell various cars frequently to experience as much of the automotive realm as possible.
Avoid holding onto money-pits that demand more respect and maintenance than they're worth.
Eventually you'll find one that is worthy; prolly have an Italian or German badge.

If you plan on making a project car I would keep your GA as a daily driver for days where it could be iffy to drive your project. I can't see where you're located but on days it gets icy or really wet you'd rather wreck the cheap car.
I have a friend who had a project truck that had way over $10k dollars in it. The day before he was to finish it with an expensive paint job an old lady turned left in front of him at a T junction doing 45.
Now I didn't mean to bumb anyone out with that just trying its not you that you need to worry about, its everyone else on the road. Now if the GA is in need of serious expensive work then yeah trade it in or sell it.

I wouldn't dump all kinds of money into it, because it is only getting older.
But a few little things here and there are always fun. Every car-guy has to mod his first car somewhat.
Hell I took my old '92 Beretta and added GTU wheels, GTU ground effects, a GT spoiler, tinted windows, JVC CD player w/6x9s in the back and subs in the trunk, and a windshield banner. :lol: And I don't regret it at all looking back. :)
like if i do do stuff to my car like paint the interior trim pieces....is it harder to sell/trade in....will he value go down?....i see what u guys mean and i use my car to drive to wayne state and back so that 40plus miles a day added to my car 5 days a week so i see wat ur all sayin....i just really wanted to make my car look sweet but its to old and miles are gettin really high....maybe ill have the opportunity sumtime in the future
