Hi,
My dealer replaced my blower motor because something in the fan area was making a ticking/clicking noise. They could not find anything stuck in the fan, so they've decided to replace the blower motor.
Now, it seems like it making a sort of a whining/humming sound when on 1 and 2. And it increases a bit with acceleration.
Is this something to worry about? I mean the whining/humming (more of a droning) sound isn't too loud. I'm just concerned about any noise. Since it is a new part, does it need to be "broken" in or something?
Thank you everyone!

Doesn't need 'breaking' in; the bearings are permanently-lubricated, and the whole thing should be as silent and 'good-to-go' as a fan motor on a brand-new car.

I would complain back to the installer IMMEDIATELY, and not let them shine me on about, "Oh, that's normal and will quitet down after awhile."
BS.
I want a new part that's quiet NOW.

Afterall, it was the dealer who said he wanted to take your money for a new part that you didn't even need (since he couldn't find/fix the problem that you complained about (the ticking/clicking).

If you were a plumber and the dealer had you come to his house to fix a noisy sink, wouldn't he be all over YOUR case about having replaced a perfectly good toilet with a new one that now whines all night???

Summary: No, a whining/humming (more of a droning) sound isn't 'normal.'

Hope this helps,
-Rick

Hi,
I just got back from the dealer. They've installed a brand spankin' new blower motor in it and it still kinda whines/hums/drones. Perhaps that's just the way it is? The dealer seem pissed about switching it out. Whatever.

Have any other ideas or thoughts? It really is helpful!
Thanks!
