Well, that's obvious. We've sure had our share this year in Iowa. Last night's 5" was heavy and wet. My '94 GASE with 2.4 and auto would barely make it up our driveway. Now, there is a fairly steep incline to it, but I do have decent tread and I don't have low profile tires. I would think that these front wheel drives could go through anything. What gives? Someone told me today (his theory) that going up a hill like that takes the weight off the front and shifts it to the back. Any truth to that? Anyone else have trouble getting around in snow with these cars? I am thinking I might be better off with my 2wd Suburban!

If you live in an area with snow you need dedicated snow/winter tires. 'All-Season' tires are NOT meant for snow or ice.
If you want to combat weight shift, try backing up your driveway instead.

I wondered about that backing up idea, too. Might try that.

Mine handles snow pretty well, but climbing a hill in wet/heavy snow is going to be a challenge. Wet snow is the absolute worst as far as grip level goes, (except for a sheet of ice with melted water sprayed on top) so I wouldn't blame the car for not climbing it. Perhaps a snowblower is what you really need...

I have a snow blower. A pretty useful one, however in order to get to it I have to somehow get in my driveway to get to it. Unfortunately I live on a very busy corner and there is NO on street parking so it is rather awkward.......time to move! In the past I have stopped (stalled out) at the bottom of the hill and started scooping. I thought those days were over. Oh, well..........

Dang don't I hate that melted water...
Just last week we had a heavy day of rain (when Shawn was ice bound on the Island) on top of about 6 - 12 " of snow. I had no issues, good snow tires on, other than the odd tug on the wheel from some slushy patches. I have a few inclines to go up on the way to work and home but they may not be as extreme as your driveway.
