Just wanting to know who has turboed their 2.4L grand am's? I know it is custom but I am wanting to know what it all takes and where to find it to get it done.
I have been on j-body.org and have really been looking into it and just want to know if I am missing anything.

turbo, pipes, turbo manifold, IC, oil lines bung ect. You know its a lot of work the main problem with u is have a 96 where you can not use HP tuners to tune you car. What are your plans for tuning? Going standalone?

I know you have had one and I have been waiting for PICS. I have never seen a pic of your motor. That would be greatly appreciate a few pics.

i've got a garret T4 i want to put on mine... i need to know what problems i'm going to encounter and what i am really looking at spending and what the prices should be so i don't get raped around here. I know a huge problem is going to be the exhaust manifold, and i'll be spending a dime on the computer. i'd appreciate any and all advice and tips i could get.

your computer choices if you want a GOOD setup. Standalone or a custom install using Hahn Portfueler or converting to a 2001 PCM getting the car flashed for the GM Supercharger 2 bar maps so you can tweak for boost using HPTuners.
The huge problem isn't your exhaust manifold, it's going to be finding a shop that is willing to help you out, and do it right.
You need intercooler pipes fabricated, you need an exhaust manifold flanged for a T4, and downpipe. All of it custom fabrication in one form or another.
What problems are you going to encounter? A lot, depends on how much power you want to make, and tune that car for.
Let me give a simple estimate. if you want more than 250hp/250tq, think about rebuilding your engine, and beefing up the transmission side of things, *clutch packs/clutch go quick when you actually make them try to work with 100%+ increase in power*

thanks for the detailed info, i don't think i'll be doing it this year, cause i want to try to hit 300 hp with it. i already know i need low comp. piston heads and alot of beefing up on the tranny, i knew it wouldn't handle doubling the hp. My buddy knows a bit about turbos so he is going to be setting up the tech side of it. I just badly need a place that knows what they are doing with the custom fab parts. And not charge me 50 gs

You don't NEED low compression pistons. I'm not running low compression pistons. My motor has 9.5:1 compression. It ran quite nicely.
If you need a place to fabricate for you, my boys shop could (though you're a million miles away). Actually if you really want you can buy my intercooler and the plumbing that goes with it, and have it modified to suit your needs.

can you post a pic of what the piping looks like within the car?

Did you get my pm Dustin?
These are two quick photos, I've had for awhile. It sits very nice up front, the piping hugs fairly close to the engine. You'll have to move your battery and use an intake manifold from a quad4, for proper function. It's all powdercoated. It does not come with the blow off valve, just the piping, couplers, clamps, and intercooler.

Tempting offer, But I have to concentrate on the projects I already have lined up for it. Next year if you still have your setup for sale I think i'll have to take it.

At least also be aware that it supported over 400hp already.
if this thing isn't sold anytime soon, it will be canibalized, as I do have something else in the works and money is desperately needed.
