My rotors have been causing a slight shimmy in my car recently as they have warped slightly.. not a big issue but my brakes will be due for a change soon so I have been pondering changing the rotors to slotted/cross drilled and upgrading the brake pads..

two questions if anyone could help.. will I need upgraded calipers or can I use the current stock units, and where can I get a good not too pricey set of rotors that are cross drilled for the GA? I am just doing the front.. rear is perfect.

thanks.. :)

Nicole, long time no see! :) Anyway, your stock calipers will be fine for any aftermarket rotor.

As for aftermarket rotors, If you were on this side of the border, I could point you in several directions. But after you figure Canadian shipping costs and customs fees, it is not worth it. Sorry... :(

Hey Nicole!!! Like Don mentioned, your stock calipers are fine, just make sure you lube the slider pins religiously, and keep them cleaned up. Atlas sells a very inexpensive slitted/cross-drilled rotor that may just do the trick for you. :)

i agree with everyone above but ill add my $.02 ($.04 in canadian). i did the slotted rotos (as you should know) and they helped emensly. with them, however, they recommend carbon metallic pads, dont do it. they are the messiest things since...volcanos started errupting. crap goes everywhere. i cleaned my wheels every other day and they still looked really dirty. find another option for pads.

Check with Mopac <www.mopacauto.com>. There's a store in Edmonton. They sell the Powerslot rotors for $125 each (canadian).

For the pads I'd get the Raybestos Quietstop. They're a ceramic pad that's highly fade resistant and give off next to no brake dust. (clean wheels) It's not quite as aggressive as Hawks and a LOT cheaper than EBC pads.

There won't be that much of a performance increase with the slotted/ cross drilled rotors. Even Baer admits this on their website. If you are planning on using your car for racing, then yes it will help. But for everyday driving don't expect a great difference. The reason most people get new rotors is for the appearance (Baer even admits this on their website).

thanks again for all the suggestions, the crossdrilled upgrade is more so an idea to prevent the warping.. I don't massively stomp on my brakes as I gear down quite often and slow the car's inertia that way.. I was thinking of the slotted/cross drilled rotors to slow the warping effect down..
Thanks again ;)
