Now just a thought provoking question (and I am not picking on you for this muffler). If this muffler were installed on a Honda, would some of us in this club refer to it as a 'fart gun'?

I'm of the opinion that some of us are snobs when it comes to our cars, and the same equipment we deride on Hondas (and others) are spoken of highly when they are installed on GAs.

Back to the muffler in question, it isn't to my taste, looks-wise, but it will certainly make your car look different, and sound different, and I'm sure that's the point. Enjoy! :thumbup2:

I don't consider this a fart cannon (even though this isn't my taste either). And as for the snobbiness comment, there is this kid in my town that had one on his car and I still thought it looked stupid.

How's it make your car sound?

suprisingly not muct different but once i get some cash again im gonna get rid of stock tail pipe and get 2 1/4 inch and take resonator off and then later get high flow cat.It sounds deep,im still staisfied and its better looking then my little import performance one.

Removing the resonator and installing a hi-flow cat will help with sound. Not sure that going to bigger piping is a good idea as you may really lose some low end torque. None of these changes will gain you much in overall HP.

Actually DTM is a euro style set up. A fart cannon is when you have a 4" or larger tip.

High flow cats are a waste of money unless you just need to replace them anyway.

Most exhaust places and even Magnaflow reps recamended getting atleast 2 1/4 piping,it helps open it up but still maintaining or gaining small bit of torque. And just depends on what you do to your car, adding one thing along with another will gain some wheel HP,like exhaust and intake might give you around 5-7 wheel HP,but yes somethings will acutally take away, thats just the nature about engines, its just a give or take thing.

Uh-oh. Then I have two 'fart cannons' on my GT. I wanted something different and I needed the size to fill the openings. 3" was too small. I didn't want 96-98 oval tips, which would have filled the openings fine.

Anyway, it might be a 'Euro' setup, but I see it lots on so-called 'ricers, and I know I have seen the look, when applied to the same so-called 'ricers', derided by some on this board.

ricer looking or not it sounds better and thats all i care about, its deep, not the annoying bumble bee sound, but i feel sorry for them because they will never get the deep tone that us domestics get, just the way they have their piping bent.Plus i think this is more american muscle looking anyways, flows better with looks then a single or double muffler with 4 inch tips.

P.S. and the term ricer has always been around and people take it out of proportion...I have a few friends that have imports but the thing is,they don't stick alum spoilers, put a god aweful amount of stickers on their car, they are clean, smooth looking cars with a lot of work put in them.

But BACK ON topic,i am pleased with this muffler, its got the deep tone,i like the look.

And that's all that matters.

If you have a 99+ GT you should have 2.25" piping anyway.

If you like it, thats all that matters. It's got to be better than the stocker muffler. Its still the same muffler design as magnaflows. It should sound good and increase performance. I personally call those coffee can tips. :D

Well, I had Ravin'mufflers but they rotted out in less than 2 years. They sounded great while I had 'em, though. Now I have two Midas life-time mufflers, as I coudn't afford two more performance mufflers. I still have the custom cat-back pipes with no resonator, so there is a little rumble. There is little performance gain with these cars from mufflers. Sound and looks is about the best anybody can ask for. Without serious engine mods, a cat-back is NOT going to gain anything more than MAYBE 5HP at the wheels. What a more open exhaust might gain you is a widening of the HP band. In other words, HP might not drop off at higher RPMs, rather than actually gaining any NEW peak HP.
