Lost it for 2nd time now.

My car started smelling sweet or like a Bike tire pressure had been released in the car.

So a quick check of the fire wall and sure as $hit, the heater core is gone again. This is the second time I've lost the thing in the 4 years I've had the car. Called a few parts stores got prices from just over 50 bucks to 32 bucks. All are the same part. Alumnm with plastic ends. I found one place that said they have a copper/brass one, so that's the one I'm going to get.

Tomorrow will be the change out.

It's fixed and on the road again. $63.03 for a full aluminum core.
The one I just removed was also full aluminum. It seems that where the spots or pipes come out of the core has small rubber seals in them. They tend to last a couple years then start leaking.

So before I put the new one in, I put some Permatex #2 around the crimped seals they use to hold the pipes in place. So with any luck.......the permatex will hold a while after the rubber gasket goes south.

Now to see how long it lasts.
