After running around for a whole day I managed to find a wiring harness to fit in my 2001 GA however the plug was ment for a 2000 chevy/track/prism but it does say on a little card that for a 2001 GA I have to find a switched 12v wire.

Well here is the problem the wiring on the harness doesnt match the wiring on the plug, so I thought Id simply rewire the harness......hahaha........sinve the speaker wires coming from the car plug are twisted I manged to get those 8 wires set right however I have 10 other wires left that I have no clue what they are.

Let me list the speaker wires first so no one is confused later.

Light Blue + Dark Blue
Tan + Grey
yellow + brown
Light Green + Dark Green

Now here are the color wires I still have left.

Orange (Thicker then the rest, about twice as thick)
Dark Green
Dark Purple
Dark Purple
brown
Black with white strip (this wire is also thicker then the rest)
Pink
Black (the same size as the speaker wires compared to the one above)

grey
and Light Green

Im asuming that the red 12V+ on the harness is the one that has to go to the fusepanel? If so, which of the above colors is for the following:

Battery/memory
Ground
power Ant
Dimmer
Illumination

As you see thats only 4 wires compared to the 10 unknowns, what the heck are the rest used for?

I can't really hand you a solution, what I can do is tell you what I did.

Although I am in "the sound business" I am more of an acoustic designer. When messing around with my own stuff I am always a bit more careful - especially with things I don't do every day.

So when my friend gave me a Blaupunkt, I decided to have a go at fitting it.

Although this wasn't in my GA, it may still help

1/ I went to the Blaupunkt website and searched on the web for the colour codes of the head unit cabling. This told me what colour went where.

2/ I then searched for the colour coding on my Silverado.

3/ I had to purchase another connector and cable thingy from Blaupunkt direct (not too common here), I also purchased a plug that would plug directly into the stock connector in the truck.

I did this so that I would not have to cut any wires, and if I wanted to put the old one back it would take about five minutes.

4/ Using the information gleaned from steps one and two I then used those nice crimp connectors and connected everything up.

5/ You end up with everything working, no questions on if you did it right, you can easily put the old one back and best of all - nothing melts!

Hope this helps. If you have problems finding the info you need then detail exactly what you are trying to connect to what.
