ive got the chance to buy a 97 Grand AM very cheap, its a 2 door SE 2.4L with 5speed trans. is it worth it to part out one of these cars? it runs great and has some new parts on it. what do parts like the engines and transmissions usually sell for?
sorry for the noobish questions,i just don't know much about these cars.

Try posting a thread over in the For Sale section. Put GI for the title. Just gauging interest

i was thinking of doing that.
i just wanted to get an idea of what people paid for some of there larger more expensive parts (i.e. engine and trans.) honestly i wouldent know how much to ask,i know very little of these cars.

Thats not too bad you might get some bites in the for sale section but the engines and transmissions do not sell for much. I only got 200 for a transmission with only 20k on it. And it was a 5 speed as well.

I wouldn't bother unless you need/want some of those parts for yourself. The parts are pretty common and don't go for much if there's any demand at all. I had a 94 GT sedan with the rare HO Quad 4, and in 6 months only sold 2-3 parts.

thanks for that info. i would have thought otherwise.
my roomate(the owner) had the hardest time finding a transmission for it when the old one went out. he ended up paying like $450.00 at a junkyard that was over 75miles away from where we live.
