Has the transmission ever been touched? Dodge's have a weak trans.

QFT.

Some last forever, sometimes you'll have 3 transmissions by the time you hit 100k miles. (for that model year, at least; anything from the early-mid 90s doesn't stand a chance)

I've had 10 dodges in my family, including the van you speak of, not a single one had transmission problems then again I've also had 8 GM products in my family...all but 3 had transmission issues
ALL car manufacturers have transmission issues

its a minivan 99.9999% of people driving them aren't being hard on them, dodge trucks were known for having shitty transmissions

I'd say buy it for $2,500. The 3.3L is a strong running motor, and they'll just keep on chuggin. The trannys in the Caravans are good, not as bad as the Intrepids. I had an Intrepid before, but I put over 30,000 miles on mine, not a single engine or tranny issue. (Mine had the 3.3L also, great motor)

While they may not be towing 40' boats or going mudding in them, minivans in general tend to be horribly maintained. I'd NEVER EVER buy a used minivan unless I knew the person who's owned it since new.

Much truth there. The average mom driving a minivan doesn't give a damn about the car. Only when something bad happens, then they complain how bad the van is.
