So i got a set of Micky Thompson ET Streets on two of my stock wheels, and the car is getting dyno tuned on saturday. We are expecting about 350 RWHP and 360 RWTQ.
I also did a popular mod amongst fbody peeps where we hide the computer wires that are under the hood. ill post a before, after, then detailed pics. im quite proud of this one, it took me about an hour to do.
before:

after:

entire engine bay now (pardon the dirty, im detailing it later today):

and some detailed pics...
these are the wires going to and coming from the ECU:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg291/ls1dave/2001%20Granatelli%20Camaro/DSCN1306.jpg
these are the wires under the fender with the fender liner removed. i used electrical duct tape to wrap the wires so the plugs dont get wet IF I ever drive the car in the rain:

02-28-2008, 08:03 PM
hehe, id be willing to have all of the wires if it meant i could have boost.

I dont really like that rear turbo kit, but have never heard anything bad about it. everyone said that a turbo in the engine bay could not be done. Well 5 years and lots of cutting and welding and I got it in there. just got it running last fall.
I think that rear turbo set up would be sweet on yours. Be a sleeper somewhat. Car looks great man keep up the good work!!!!

I know the guy that is in that mag. He is cool as hell. And one of the nicest people I have ever met, always willing to help someone out.

02-28-2008, 09:53 PM
thats one sick lookin SS. yea a turbo in the engine bay is very nice and gets plenty of attention.
all that ive done to my car is: GMS lower control arms, GMS springs, GMS subframe connectors, GMS shock tower bar, GMS maf, GMS lid, magnaflow catback, mac midlength headers, corvette C5 wheels, falken Azenis rt-615 tires...
and now i just got word from the sponsors that im getting a Granatelli (GMS) torque arm (more than likely with a built in drive shaft loop), nitto drag raidals, and tokico adjustable rear shocks. this is the first wave of parts for my car, they have a list of all that i want to do to the car, so well see what else i can get done. I have ET streets already mounted to my stock 16s, but id feel better with drag radials, especially if i can sell the slicks.

02-28-2008, 09:58 PM
nice!!! must feel good having someone that is willing to put parts into your car. I have the GMS strut bar and torque arm with the loop. also lowered it 2 inches. then custom 2 tone leather interior. Then all the money went under the hood.lol
Cant wait to see what else they are going to add to your car.

So I got my car tuned today at a known fbody and GTO place called Haddad motorsports. They used a dynopack dyno which means you pull the wheels nad bolt up the dyno directly to the hubs. It is supposed to be the most accurate dyno out there (but they all say that, dont they? lol)
so they calculated my baselines to be 315/344 which isnt bad considering it was a stock tune. im now putting 328/364 to the wheels.
They went and adjusted my air/fuel tables at every RPM, and then went back and adjusted my mass air flow tables at the same RPMs. they also increased the line pressure in the tranny, removed the governor, took off 50% of the torque management, deleted the AIR code and made a few other adjustments. it took about 4 hours.

thanks.
oh so to help read that dyno graph, the red line is the baseline dyno. the blue is the dyno after the tune. you can see the red line fall out...thats when it hit 155 mph. he deleted the governor and you see it not fall off on the blue line.
whats funny is you see i hit 155 mph at 6k rpm in 3rd gear. thats thanks to my 2.73 gears. you wont see that on a 3.73 geared car.

your car is lookin good dave....numbers are nice but the TQ curve looks odd... but maybe its just me
I've never seen a dyno like that before...i'd certainly be afraid of the car falling off the jack with the wheels spinning that fast
Silver 4 door
03-02-2008, 07:41 PM
the dyno is bolted to the car. Cant fall off. Sounds like a guy here in own just bought a dyno. I dont have to drive 8 hours to get to one now...lol

03-02-2008, 07:52 PM
ah ok i didnt realize there was a unit on each side of the car...i thought the other wheel was just hanging in the air  shows how much I know about this type of dyno...
I googled this dyno and am more familiar with it now...I'm curious if people use this type of dyno on AWD cars

At work lots of times we have jack stands under big truck axles and run them up to 60 to 70mph to find viberations in the drive lines. wasent fun the first few times I did it.
car audio dave
03-02-2008, 09:10 PM
haha yea i was a bit nervous because i hadnt seen this type before either, but when i saw them bolting up the hub extensions to it i felt better, then i felt even better when i saw it on both sides. lol
the torque curve is a bit strange. he was telling me about it but i forget what he said. it was something about how it starts calculating it or something. at first it said my torque was over 1000, i was like wtf, then he said thats before its divided by the gear ratio or something...i dunno.

yea id have a bit more hp, but i dont see the torque being any higher. once i delete my cats ill see some more hp, up to about 20 more hp at the wheels.

So ive got an update...im not making a new thread since its mine. I hid the hood release cable and moved a few grounds to clean up the engine bay a bit more. i still have one more ground to move (it needs to be extended since i couldnt find a good ground in the area) and the TCS (black thing on left side of bay) needs to be moved to behind the ECU. Then ill remove the stickers on the right side and itll be done for now.

wow Nicole, i cant wait to see what Corys car pulls. thats gonna be mean. I keep forgetting its awd.
thanks guys for the props. The car is great and all, but its not the best thing to tool around town in. I took it out today, and yes it is fun, the looks are great, and the power makes it fun, but i hate taking all driveways sideways and squinting over every bump (preparing to hear my car bottom out).

I feel ya Dave. I lowered my Z28 and the thing is so low I have a had time getting it into the drive way where I keep it. My intercooler is about 3 or 4 inches off the ground. Need to make a plate under it to protect the intercooler.
bet that thing gets a ton of looks though.

03-21-2008, 12:16 AM
hehe it does. i have 1.5" inches under my cats (which will be gone this weekend hopefully). i tend to piss people off when i stop to go over drainage ditches. ive been almost hit way too many times when i go over the one near my house. i even pull over to let cars by before i get to it, and people come up on me fast. pisses me off.

I know what you mean. Got to keep both eyes in the mirrors when you slow down for the bumps and stuff.
my boss just bought a 02 SS SLP this past week. Just brought it to work today. Man that white thing is sick looking. only 500km's on it.

those ET streets hook better than the nitto's. almost everyone i run around with keeps their ET's mounted and run them all the time, only a few exceptions (a couple vette's and a blown silverado). lol, one guy keeps full blown slicks mounted on his muffstain.
i dont know if traction is a huge problem with your car or not or if you like to go out and play. one guy has a terminator and he's waiting on his nitto's to wear out so he can swap to ET's. nothing wrong with the nitto's as far as ride quality goes (and he has some pretty massive 315s), but we have 2 terminator's. a silver one with quite a bit done with ET and a red one that's fairly stock with nitto's. the silver one hooks and leaves the red one behind
not bashing your tire selection, and if you want the radials by all means go for them, i'm just telling you what i know about being around them. my group runs some pretty serious cars on the street and they all stick with the ET's.
just don't want you to post about your car losing traction and ending up around a light pole or something :P

well my daily tires are Flaken Azenis RT-615. they are auto x tires, so i dont think ill end up with traction issues.
im keeping the ET streets for track use only, and the Nittos are only going to be for track testing for the sponsor. I have decided that I will sell them after I am done testing them.
As far as using ET streets for normal use, my grand national buddy used to have them as his normal tires. he said that you drive over a bolt itll get stuck in the tread. any stones or debris you drive over gets stuck and ruins the tire. This is why i plan to use my RT-615s for daily use (altho i hardly drive it daily).

yea im happy with my Falken Azenis RT-615s for daily use. they grip as much as i need for driving around town. The increased grip with them over anything else ive used it incredible. I had whatever the model below these are on the grand am, and they impressed me. These just rock.

Ok, bringing this back from the dead to give some updates, as most people dont look in the car audio section.
built a stealth box for a 12w6v1, fiberglass amp rack in the spare tire area, custom fiberglass mount for a fire extinguisher, and hid my 1/0 gauge wire when I ran it.
oh yea, and I ordered Koni single adjustable shocks. they are back-ordered but will be in June 9.
