Can some of you do me a favor and try something for me. Please open up a new window in your browser (IE preferably) and type in grandamownersclub, no http:// or .com, just grandamownersclub. Tell me what comes up please.
After that, do the same thing for bankofamerica. Remember, no http:// or .com, just bankofamerica, and let me know what happens.
Thanks for doing this for me guys. After a few posts I will delete this thread.

When I do it for grandamownersclub a porn site comes up. for bankofamerica a site for Evidence Eliminator comes up telling me I'm in trouble. Just to let you know, I have comcast broadband and in the status bar on the bottom it says it's opening a search engine and goes right to these sites. I have no viruses and al cookies are deleted.

Mine used to do this, but now it goes to a wierd search engine and doesn't fill in and perform the search automatically. Anyone know how to get it back like this?

I called Microsoft Tech support to find out if there was a problem with my browser (IE) and I got a woman Tech from Nova Scotia and she typed in grandamownersclub and she also got a porn site. She told me that it's just the nature of the web. An HP tech told me it could be an ISP issue with the DNS server. Anyway, my fiance is the one that found out this problem that I have and she wasn't too pleased when she saw the porn site come up on my machine.

MSN is usually the default Search engine; however, you can change it fairly easily.

Click on the SEARCH icon and then when the search portion shows up, click on CUSTOMIZE and have it do what you want it to do when it cannot find a site...

Later,
David

Here's how to stop IE from bringing up the MSN search:

Click Tools, select Internet Options.
Click Advanced (at the top right), scroll through the list and find "Do not search from the address bar", then select it.
Click OK.

It will no longer bring up the MSN search, or any other search engine for that matter.

Yeah if you install any downloading software such as kazaa, WINM, etc they hook gator stuff on with it and it has ad pop ups and porn and internet washers and offers and it really pisses me off.

Ok everyone, I appreciate all the help. Here is what was wrong. I had a virus that was disruping the functionality of my McAfee VirusScan software. I got a McAfee tech and he gave me instructions on how to run a Scan In safe Mode with Command Promt which in effect deleted the troublesome little bastard. Now I am getting the same responses as all of you. I get the Banks website and I get nothing for the other.
Thanks again everyone.
This thread can now be deleted or moved if you wish Kelly.

If anybody is running netscape, typing in the site name such as bankofamerica or gaownersclub w/o http:// and .com will take you right to the site. You do have to have Internet Keywords disabled though under Smart Browsing settings.

Just did a WHOIS on both domains.

If you're not getting the Bank Of America website when you type in the bankofamerica.com domain, or if you don't get a blank "not found" page when you type in grandamownersclub.com, then you probably have spyware.

It could also be that someone temporarily hijacked BofA's site, but then that wouldn't explain why grandamownersclub.com pops up a porn site.

If you use <Ctrl> +<Enter> on any website after typing anything that comes between www. and .com, Internet Explorer will fill it in for you... Try it, it really works!
