I was wondering if anyone knows if these are good subs or not. I have heard from some people that they are good but just wanted your input. Two 12" JL w6'2. Thanks.

they're some of the best subs you can get for that kind of money... if you can get em, then do it up, but if you already got em, make sure you treat them with some RESPECT! ;)

yea ive got em. theyre awesome but make sure you give em adequate power. the 12" ones need a minimum of 300 watts. make sure its clean power tho, no jensen stuff.

Well it depends also on what model of w6's you get.. there is the standard w6 model also known as the w6 AE.. and then there is the w6V2 model which dave has.. the v2 model runs at 400 w rms each and the AE model runs at 300w rms each. As for the subs.. I would go with no other. I love these subs because they are tight and powerful. I would highly recommend either.. though the v2's are the better version. As for your setup.. one thing to look out at is that these subs run at 6ohms.. thus if you run them in parallel they run at 1.5 ohms.. like mine.. if you put them on a 2 ohm amp like mine.. you run into very minor problems with current overflow.. but that is only a small circumstance.. As for the size.. id say 12's are one of the best overall sub size.. they give you a ton of bass.. and yet they are crisp and tight as well. Id say get em if you can

Ya im getting 2 w6's and a box for $350. I was planning on getting like a 1,600 watt amp for them. Is that too much or just right? Also what happens with your overflow problem?

check the rms rating oon your amp.. usually an amp that runs at over 1000w rms in in 1000$ us retail. As for the overload problem.. Becuase my amp is designed to run at 2 ohms and my setup is at 1.5 ohms.. certain songs tend to drop my voltage to below 12 volts ( its a 14.4 V amp ) and then i get a current spike and it shuts down as a safety measure.. then i have to restart my car.

Well what kind of amp would you recommend? I will spend $600 on an amp. Thats about all the money i will have left over with my summer job. And so your driving then your car will shut off. Or your system. nd could getting another battery to run the amp and subs on and other stuff fix that problem?

1) unrealoaded, the w6v2 subs are actually dual 4 ohm subs, but it sound like Fink1320 has the w6v1

2) a great amp is the JL audio 500/1. it gives 500 watts at 1.5 ohms, so youll be ok. that amp retails for just under 600, so it fits well. good luck.

Well I would want more then a 500 watt amp. i wan at least 50 watts going to each sub.

hey, i gotta agree..the w6's are tite. I got the w3's and i lovem. the only thing i hate though is its true...you haveta have a lot of power for them. I have a 800 watt amp and its good but not enough. I say if you got the money check out Eclipse amps. They have a new one thats a 1000 true watts.

well fink my amp turning off is a safety measure. Basically i have to restart my car so that the amp turns on again. I guess i could always run it off another battery and see if that works.. but like i said.. it does not happen often at all.. I also found that adjusting my amp in different configurations alters how much current i get. Mainly my problems occur when i have my amp setup to run deep bass with a competition cd. Then when i go play a few punk songs with some decent bass it would occasionally shut down. Simply because my amp is set to run at slow, deep noted tones and kinda overloads on fast, rapid hits with somewhat deep bass. As for the amp... i would also recommend the JL 500/1 which is similar to my amp.. but mine is digital and its designed for a 2 ohm setup while the JL is designed to run at anywhere from 1.5 ohms to 3 ohms.. thus making it better for your type of setup. And trust me man... either the JL or my alpine amp would be enough power for your system. If you want.. go to the JL audio website to look up your subs.. You will have the 12w6 AE and thus they are recommended to run at only 300W rms each.. any more than that and you begin to compromise the integrity of the sub. Otherwise.. find something that runs at 600w rms but those arnt that common... You could also go with a JL 1000/1 but that will run you quite a bit more, same as the Mrd-m1000 amp by Alpine.

I just talked to this guy at Dashworks (local store) and he recommended this 1200 watt amp that i can split and have 600 watts to each sub. On sale from $1,000 to $549.99. So once i get the money thats what im gettin. he said its an amp that is set up to run at 1.5 ohms which is what my subs would run at. So thanks for you guys help.
