yesterday morning i was driving home from work and i was going on a two lane road, i was going about 35 and i noticed a deer pop out of no where i slam on the brakes and avoid it, but i didn't see the second one and i smashed the deer. it bounced off my car about 7-10 feet off the ground and tumbled to the other side of the road by a guard rail. well i get out and my headlight and fender are trash, it will get looked at by a shop on monday, luckly the hood made it out with just a tiny chip and the bumper doesn't look damaged but never know. good thing i didn't install my clear corners  on friday. on with the pics i think i got off lucky for how little the damage is.

this might be a good thing, i can get a gt bumper and while the car goes for paint they can do the gt bumper and mirrors.
That sucks but at least it wasn't too serious, it could have been a lot worse.

That is horrible! Good thing that the hood made it out safe though!
I take it the deer didn't survive?

i know that was what i was thinking as i got out of the car to check the damage. the deer was laying there twitching for about 10 minutes til a cop came, but the deer was dead before the cop got to it. i know i was extermely lucky that this was all i got. it was a small medium sized deer as well.

We call it fur in Western NY...
I've hit four deer (so far) with my two N bodies. That's how I got my tint and SD hood. Deer never run alone. Next time when you see one, watch where it came from. There's two or three more coming and they don't stop.

At least it isn't torn up too badly. I've seen some cars (newer ones) totalled by deer. :/

When it comes to deer, I always assume there is more than one. This assumption has saved me on many occasions. Generally when deer cross roads, there is usually more than one.

Yeah.. I don't know if twitching is just involuntary electrical impulses an whatnot, or if it's suffering trying to move.. but.. I saw that once after somebody hit a deer, and I started crying my eyes out. (I know im gonna get made fun of for saying that.. haha)

i already know that, when the first one jumped in front of me, i almost hit that one head on, but i slamed the brakes. i missed it by a foot, while still on the brakes the second one met my car.

there was no time, besides its kinda hard to do that on sort of sloppy road conditions.

ya know what ray I don't know if I would have cried but i woulda been freaked, I still get nightmares from when I saw this car in front of me run over someones pet cat the head was squished to the ground eye popped out, nasty nasty god that sucked then the cats body started jumping like crazy. Not a good night.
That was about 2 months after seeing a guy jogging down the street then he wasn't paying attention and ran in front of a car, both the runner and the car were going the opposite way from me but I heard and saw a glimpse of it as I passed. not cool at all.

well i got my first estimate, i took it to the dealer that did my hood and its around $2,000. i called the insurance company and they didn't seem to happy that i took it to a dealer and not one of there shops that they wanted me to. but i was told when i started the claim that i had the option that i can take it where i want. so now they are going to send an adjuster to the house to check the car. the dealer could've had it in the shop on the 10th, the adjuster will not be here until the 6th. i'll have to drive the car like this for about another week or so. i have to wait and see what the adjuster says, before i can make the appointment to get it fixed.

Eh, I ran over my cat with my Firebird. Not under the wheels but something sprained her but good.
Dumb animals around cars.
On the deer:
I had a friend who had one crash through the windshield and land in the seat next to him after getting hit. They said it was good it died instantly because if it was alive next him, it might've thrashed him to death.

well glad your insurance isn't trying to pull something, hopefully the adjuster sees things the right way and not the cheap @$$ insurance way.

Wow, may I say, coming from one who's met deer before, you got out pretty lucky. I hit one at about 50 head on, destroying a headlight, front bumper, hood, on the plastic stuff under the hood. Really did a number on it, $4500 price tag all done and said. But living in Vermont, insurance automatically covers deer vs. car collisions. And it doesn't affect your insurance. One of the few perks of living here....
Glad your okay and your car isn't too bad...

got an update: the car goes in on tuesday at the dealership to get fixed. i chose the dealer instead of the insurance companys approved shops because 2 years ago i had a wreck and they had my car for over 6 weeks and when i got it back it looked like they hurried putting it back together. the adjuster came and his estimate was $1,400. as you see in the pics with my headlight like it is, well i was driving down the highway going to work and all of a sudden the headlight breaks free and the only thing that held the head light was the turn signal bulb i had to pull off the highway and pull it off, yesterday morning i noticed that the bumper is screwed up where the headlight is, if they can't fix the bumper i will get a new one. i don't have the dual post mirrors on the car since the driverside broke. already got another mirror. i am using the "mickey mouse" mirrors until it goes in the shop to put the dual post mirrors back on. while they are working on the car they will paint the dual post mirrors.
here is the pic of the bumper, there is a chance they can fix that but who knows.

and the funny thing was, when the adjuster came and asked me if there was any deer hair and i said it blew away, and my headlight almost with it. but good thing i had my pics. he had me print it out and i thought he was going to take the picture that i printed, nope he took a pic of the picture and i am :wtf: why did you just take the print out, and he told that would be less paper at the office.

Just curious...do you get a "service vehicle soon" light with a missing headlight?

probably LOL either way, the vehicle needs service
ah i see. looks like the lens came right off with no hassle...? was it even glued on to begin with HAHA i was gonna say, it looks liek the amber reflector came off nicely, but...the lens went with it

thats the odd thing, when the night lights are on the svs light is off but when the daytime running light are running the svs is on.

the headlight pretty much split like a banana on the highway which forced me to pull over and it fell apart in my hands as i took it off the car.

so theyr acctually gonna charge u $2000 to fix that... thats freaking crazy. i could fix it and add a couple mods to it for that price. then again id be doing all the work myself and that eliminates a lot of the cost. my car has had a bad winter too, but im not gonna go into detail on that till im good and ready. so give it time...and money.

the insurance adjuster gave me the estimate of $1,400 and the dealer has to go by that estimate, but it may go up if they can't fix the bumper. i could fix it myself as well and be cheaper but thats the way the insurance company wants it.
i dropped the grand am off today and i got a rental. when i talked to them over the phone yesterday i would have a choice of a ford focus, pontiac g5, and a chevy cobalt. i asked for the g5 and they told me they would see what they could do, well i walk in to get the rental and they told me this all they got other than a jeep. its a dodge dakota slt with the 4.7-Liter V8 Engine. the good thing was they upgraded for free since they had nothing else. here is a few pics of it,

got another update, i called the rental place on thursday to get rid of the truck because it costed me $60 to keep it at a half tank :(. i asked for a g5 and they told me to come up around noon and 1pm, i get up there and i see the g5 sitting there, and i got it as replacement rental. but between the rental insurance and gas i am already $200 into it and i have to pay the deductable which is $100 so no gt upgrades for a while. i stoped into the dealer to see how far along it was, they got a fender on and they still have to put the bumper back and headlights on. i was told it would be done this wednesday, but i have to go up tomorrow and find out if it will be finished, if not i have to call the insurance company again to extend the rental. when they took the car apart they found more stuff that needed to replaced, now the new total is $1,800 from $1,400. here are a few pics of the g5, i like this car i wouldn't mind having one

by the way does anyone know what the bolt pattern is for the wheels on this g5 gt i can't find it. i think they would look good on the grand am if they fit.
