:roll2::(:mad:

My mom and I moved to a new house last weekend. (divorce finally ended and we are finally into a house again). The house has a single garage with a single slab infront of it. I leave first in the morning so I let my mom park in the garage. Well Thursday night i got home before her and parked in the street. Friday when I got to work I noticed that nice booboo on my bumper. Before I wiped it off there was blue paint too. Well on Saturday the g/f and I were heading to white castles and I noticed the neighbors across the street have a blue sunfire, with a nice scratch on their rear bumper. Long story short, I go over there a knock for awhile then as I'm walking away this 16/17 year old girl comes running out. "I'm sorry, I know what this about, I haven't had time to say anything yet!". :roll2:
Oh well, I'll go get an estimate. The paint has lots of small cracks and the plastic is kind of "bowed" in. And the very top left corner of the bumper above the wheel really folds in under the quarter panel. I'm not a body expert, but I'm pretty sure the bumper will need to be replaced to be fixed correctly.

Also, anyone have pics of a GT bumper on an 03+ SE? I doubt it will flow with the rest of the car, but you never know.

I'm mostly mad because I know if I hadn't seen her car, she would have never said anything to me. And now we are suppose to get 6" of snow tomorrow, I was hoping to let my dad take it to get an estimate, but I can't drive the Trans Am in this weather.

sorry to see that. the GT rear bumper will look ok on there, as long as you plan to get the rest of the kit at some point. if its just a fix and thats it then get another SE bumper.

sure you can drive the TA in the snow. :P youll just have to keep it under 30 mph.

i HATE most young girl drivers, women in general. i am in NO WAY sexist, and im not saying its all of them, but most of them are always distracted on cell phones, texting or even music. ive seen it all. but that sucks that she didnt leave a not at least. oh well, at least you got a hold of her.

but yeah my rear is cracked also, and i have an 03 SE. i might try a GT rear bumper sooner or later and see how it looks. cant be that bad. cause im sure as hell gonna have a hard time finding an 03 SE rear in my Graystone color lol

Although there are plenty of them, I've seen far more responsible young women drivers. It's just that there seem to be more irresponsible young women drivers than any other age group. The irresponsible ones tend to be more memorable.

It is rather shitty that you had to go pound on the door in order to get even an apology. I'm feeling rather optimistic at this particular moment, so I'd venture towards she was too scared to say anything rather than inconsiderate. She has probably had nothing but the play-by-play of slamming into your bumper on her mind since it happened.

Just some insight into another realm of possibility.

Ouch sorry to see. Look at the bright side..It was the neighboor across the street and not some girl that lives across town, or better yet it was'nt the WS6!

Get a police report. In fact, I would have called them before knocking on the door.

Cover your own ass on this one. She can "say" whatever she wants, but follow the correct steps to ensure that you will be getting this repaired without paying a dime.

My dad took my car to get an estimate and it was $600 to repair the bumper. They said they could fix it without replacing it. I guess its time to break the news to the neighbors.

Must be surface scratching only. If it requires filler, insist on fascia replacement... "pre-loss condition."

Did you get a police report yet? Filed with insurance? (Yours and theirs?) If not, you can still potentially get screwed. You shouldn't be going directly to them for the money.

So I went over and talked to them yesterday. Only her dad was home....and she hadn't said a word to him about it

He was very nice and he would take care of it. He is going to call his insurance and see what the deductible is, but probably just write me a check. He was very pissed at his daughter, especially when I mentioned that I had to confront her about it. But he said he'd let me know in a couple days on what he planned to do. BTW, the first estimate was $586 from a body shop my dad had paint his 72 Nova a while back, and the chevy dealership my brother works at quoted $601.

I glanced at the estimates, there were a couple "inner bumper" clips and pieces that were going to be replaced, then the bumper was going to be resprayed. ~$425 in just labor.

You're still f-ing up and setting yourself up to be screwed. Police report? Insurance claim?

What happens if the shop pulls the bumper off, finds additional damager (impact foam cracked, fascia mounting holes ripped off, etc) making the repair exceed the estimate and "dad" isn't interested in writing another check?

Exactly, I just went through something like this and to make a long story short

Get a dang police report!!!

If her dad decides at the last minute that he doenst want to cover her mistake then you are SOL without one. My wifes car got hit and the guy told her he'd fix it but lo and behold we get a bill from him for part of the damages. We would have had a mechanics lean on the car if we hadnt paid it and probably would have ended up in a civil suit over it. So listen to someone who has just been through it, I dont care how nice they seem.:roll2:

Get the stupid police report, it really doesnt take that long.

Anyways...he called his insurance and they won't raise his premiums for such a small accident so his insurance's adjuster or whoever should be contacting me shortly.
