Ok guys this is my first post here so please be kind :D.

First I have a 1999 GA that is new to me and it came with 1 key and no key FOB's. It is an SE model with power locks. How can I tell if the car came from the dealer with the keyless system, and if so where would be the best place to purchase some.

Second when I first start the car all the gauges go to full reading and when the car starts they return to working normaly and appaer to read correctl, is this right?

Thank in advance, Kent.

Look in the trunk, on the underside of the spare tire cover.
There is (was) a long piece of paper glued there with a list of 'alpha designations' like VFD, BVF, etc., called a 'build sheet.'
If it's there and legible, one of those designations tells if it had factory remote.
I don't know the exact 'build code', but somebody will be along soon who will post it.
Assuming you have that piece of paper to refer to.

If not, any stereo/alarm company can install an aftermarket module to allow remote door locking, along with an alarm.
NO GA HAD factory alarm; just remote locking.

The 'gage check' is normal. Also, glance over all the idiot lights to make sure their bulbs work, especially 'ABS' and the Check Engine icon.

Hope this helps, and :welcome: to GAOC!!

check out www.keylessride.com

on that site you can find out if your car is equipped with RKE. They also sell the Fobs and will also include programming instructions if it doesn't have to be done by the stealership.

Ok, glad to hear that about the gauges. I do watch all the idioit lights and all seem to come on then off like my other cars.

I will be checking in the trunk for that info on the option list.

Thank guys :D, Kent.

Ok I checked with the dealer and my car oringaly came with key fobs. Is it possabille to get them at a wreacking yard and then have them programed for my car?
