i'm thinking about coming up to the albany meet, assuming my car doesn't have FDGB by then, and wanted to know what to expect. i know you all are a really good group of people i'm just wondering what goes on and how much of it goes on. and what should i bring besides a good attitude? sorry i know this is a really broad topic, i'm just curious.

Okay, so what is the beer drinking policy at the hotel? I mean, is it one of those things where I can just have a cooler full of cold beer with my door open and a big sign that says "FREE BEER HERE!" Will that work for you guys?

That I can do. Anyone know if there's a fridge in the hotel room to cool beer off when there isn't room in the cooler. I plan on packing about half a trunk full of beer. Should be plenty to go around.

Very true. However, the fridge is the back up plan. With a cooler full of beer, the fridge is there to cool off the warm beer that's waiting. Once that is cool enough, I transfer to the emptying cooler, and restock the fridge. Just a backup when the cooler is full. Yeah, I think of everything on these special occasions.

Maybe a second cooler will be necessary as well.

They are little dorm fridges. Weaksauce. Honestly, the coolers do better with the initial beer chilldown. Or even do the ice water/salt stew, Mythbusters style.

Wow... Sounds like an absolute blast. It seems that the setup you guys used for filling up tubs could use some rethinking. Here's a tip, steal one of the "wheelie cart" things that they use for luggage. And then bring them all at once. Therefore carrying can be optional.

I've been to hotels all my life that were considered "beer shows." Pretty much a weekend of partying and buying and selling advertising. So yeah, I know the ropes when it comes to chilling beer!

No, trust us... we know what we're doing. That setup is fine... the "chute" was the most readily available object, hotel info binder. :lol: The carts are pretty useless... while we were using them, this hotel has no elevator and we're always on the 2nd floor.

And just for reference/benchmark of correctness... most of us have been doing this for years...

Sorry, there has never been autocross related. Also, I'm not sure if you've ever looked into AutoX events, but they are pretty hardcore - you must be there very early and volunteer your effort all day when not running yourself.

I would like to see a autoX too but like Matt said, it's labor intensive. It's also hard these days to find someone that will allow you to hold a competitive event on their property.

I don't drag race. I already know my car is slow but last year I went to the track anyways. You can bring your lawn chair, beverages of choice and have a fun afternoon without driving your car down the quarter mile.
