Well my car is in the shop. :( Low coolant light came on a few weeks ago, thought nothing of it, put coolant in the car. Light came back on again on Monday. Checked the coolant level, it was fine so I started thinking maybe I needed a new sensor since the car is a 92, no big deal. Well Wednesday my check oil light come on and I checked it (still got over 1500 miles until my next oil change), checked the oil it was low and guess what was in it?? Antifreeze. Damn head gasket. And to top it off I had to buy a new battery on Wednesday since mine died. Car went in early Thursday morning to get the head gasket replaced. Might have it back by Tuesday or Wednesday. How much more or less am I looking at spending to get the damn thing fixed??

have the head and block checked to make sure it wasn't cracked or warped. as that is what my guess would be why mom went through so many damn head gaskets.

Yah that is what I am having done. That is why my mechanic is going to have my car for such a long time. At least now I found an honest mechanic and don't have some a$$hole trying to rip me off because I am a girl. He is going to look at the block and head and check everything. He is a good guy. He takes a little while longer than some places would, but he is a lot better and a lot cheaper. :D

I paid 700$ CDN two months ago to get my head gasket replaced on my 94 SE. My car spent almost a full week into the garage to get it fixed. The next week, my alternator died too...

My car got towed yesterday for the same darn thing. I read the Quad4 is known for bad head gaskets. How much do you think it'll cost all together? Also, I have 124,000 mi. on mine, how long do the Quad4 engines last?

the Q4 is a strong engine, the main things that went wrong were the heads and headgaskets
Just get the headgaskets changed before problems start, and make sure you have or get the 086 head.... it was the best flowing and strongest.

The SOHC is the worst for head gaskets. DOHC can go to, but tends to be much more milage before that happens.
