alright..rumor is that Grand Am's can get a AEM intake custom put into their car...if you've seen this, have this done, or have even heard of this being done please let me know if it can be, and tell me how they did it if you know. Thanks

You need to tell us which engine and year car you have. They're all different.

I don't belive you can get an AEM for the v6 Grand Am's i know the 2.4 you can..But someone else might know wether or not you could, but most of the people here that have the AEM have the 2.4,including myself which i will be ordering one soon. You'd be better off making a CAI yourself.

On my 97SE 2.4L I just took out the air box and popped an APC intake filter on the end of the hose and it fites perfectly.

that's a WAI allied... he wants to get a CAI into a 3100... it's hard 13thfloor, but i think if you move the battery to the trunk or something, you can do it... my advice is to just get a WAI... less money, less hassle, and less time wasted (i hear you get like 3-4 hp from the WAI and like 7-8 for the CAI... but the WAI sounds louder or something... The Old Guy is a genious on intakes, tho so pm him about it :) )

 You give me way too much credit!!!! If someone would post a pic of a 3100 engine bay I can look at it and tell you how to route the pipe. 3" mandrel bend Hooker header J pipe from Summit, couplers from The Car Toy Store and a filter. Cut the pipe, after you figure out where it has to go, polish it and clear coat it. K&N filter and voila!!! Cold Air Intake. Look at the pics of mine and you'll see it on a 3400. Even in person it looks like an aftermarket. Most guys that see it think it's an AEM or APOC, except I have to say, John's powdercoated intake is pretty hard to beat as far as cosmetics!!!!

If IronRay would get moving, I'd have a CAI for a 2.4 finished!!!! Start bugging him or I'm sure he'd take donations for the cause!! Well, back to painting my calipers!!!

There isn't much difference to the 2.3 and the 2.4 other then the Twin Cam and so forth? I thought ive seen under the hood of a 2.3 and the engine bay looked the same(where the TB was and the battery and the hole into fender wall) Cuz once i found out from you guys how you built it im jumping right on making one cuz i want an intake soon, and its stumping me on where to buy 3 inch mandrel piping for a low price around here.

Here's the pipe I used for mine from Summit

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=HOK%2D21380

But I would start with 3" in the fender well and reduce it to 2 1/2 to the throttle body.

You can go with either of these tapers....

Taper Pipe
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=FLO%2DR3025

Rubber reducing coupler
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=GRM%2D10%2D509
The second would require a 2 1/2' pipe to your throttle body.

Or you could go 2 1/2 all the way, but I don't know how easy it'll be to find a cone filter with a 2 1/2" opening. I haven't really looked.

The second two links don't appear to work. Part number might be better...

[edit] - Thanks for the fix!

From what I understand the tape pipe is to reduce the pipe size while keeping the airflow the same. Am I right Tom?

Well in theory reducing the pipe size will speed up the air flow, but I think that just going 3" all the way to the throttle body and then just using the reducing coupler it'll have just about the same effect. 3' pipe will fit in the wheel well, a 3" opening on a cone is easy to find, and the throttle body is 2 1/2". So the coupler will be less expensive and it'll do the same thing.

I've found one other one, 2" shorter, but also ~$9 cheaper...
