Car was parked on the street where we get a friend of ours and local GM mechanic to do work on our cars. I was getting my brake pads changed from EBC Greens to Hawk HPS. I got a call from around 2:30 in the morning and was notified.

What do you guys think hit me? The insurance people thought truck. I think the driver was drunk myself.

My car was parked all the way to the left of that picture. That is how far it moved. I think 1/2 on ice but still...

Now what I think happened is, the car that hit me, did a 180 and hit the curb backwards. Why do I think that? Because there was a wheel from the other car when I got there @ 230. It was snapped clean off the axle. I believe backwards because the car proceeded to drive away after this, as it wasn't there when we got there (it was a 4th gen GA), and it being fwd, one of the backs must have snapped off. Unless they drove away with one front wheel but I don't think so.

There is even paint transfer on the sidewalls of the tire.

Estimated so far at 6800 (CAN) dollars damage if I heard correct, I believe the unibody is tweaked too.

Probably not. I'll see what happens, but I'd rather get a smaller 4 cyl car or perhaps a beater + either a 4x4, bike, or newer sled.

Damn 4th gen drivers with their hit and runs lol. That sucks dude, I hope everything goes well with the replacement. I hope they catch him/her, can't be that hard to spot a 4th gen with a missing wheel and a messed up front.

My new G5 has been a fun 30 mpg. replacement for my broken 2000 GA. When parked side by side there isn't much difference in size or shape. (coupe to coupe) But it really sucks your 99 isn't fixable, sorry.

Thanks for the thoughts folks. They did catch the driver that did it and charges were pressed. It will probably end up going to a wrecker (it does indeed look like the unibody is twisted after looking at it again), so all the goodies will probably go with it.

The car was ditched not too far from where mine was hit (I live in a small town, only so many places to hide) and how they drove off is beyond me. I've wondered a few times what the whole chain of events must have looked like.

hahaha ya know now that you say that I pictured in my head a really drunken idiot trying to drive off and if anyone had a video camera that would make it better, kinda makes me giggle that they were that stupid to try and get away with that, seriously.

Sorry to see your loss man, sometimes i kinda wish something like that would happen to my car shes been good but man after the little love taps shes already gotten she shows up on carfax now and my car ain't worth crap because of it.
