But that's exactly what happened when Maximum Bob talked up the Pontiac G8 GXP, and specifically its optional six-speed manual transmission. Mated to that highly coveted cog swapper is the 6.2-liter LS3 V8 pulled from the Corvette, making 402 hp and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. If you opt for the 6L80 auto 'box, you can check your manhood and an extra two lb.-ft. of torque at the door.

In addition to the upgraded engine and manual tranny, the GXP benefits from the 19-inchers originally shown on the G8 concept, Brembo brakes (sized 14-inches up front and 12.76 inches out back) and some revised suspension bits. Zero-to-60 times are down to 4.7 seconds and the G8 GXP (along with the Solstice coupe and 'ute) are all due to hit dealers later this year.

Pontiac's full press release is posted after the jump, and our own live high-res shots can be seen in the gallery below (we're going to be adding more as soon as the pandemonium surrounding the vehicle dies down.

Ahhh yes... manual available.

Very hot. My only thought (very nitpicking too) would be the wheel finish. Because of the large brakes (no contrast between rotor and wheel spokes) and other dark colored plastic (bottom of mirrors, grills, inside of headlights, etc) it would look even hotter with gunmetal wheels of the same design. That would really complete the theme.

Interesting to see that Pontiac is still on a kick with that bright orange for their concepts.

This is a step in the right direction for GM... just hope it doesn't cost $40K for a GXP. I don't think they need 50 cent there either.

I agree with the point on the finish of the wheel. Too much shine in there. I like it though! They need to boot fitty to the curb though. At the NAIAS, I overheard someone look at the G8 and say 'Hey, that's the car from the new 50 cent video' and I just about puked.

Im sure as most other GMs that the Chrome finish wheels is optional.

Yes, but chances are the other finish is silver.
