can't be anyworse than a malibu or subaru, and it doesn't have a kia or hyundai badge, so I'm pleased.
People tend to look at my ass in this thing anyway.

Awesome! Been looking at getting one...or just an LT with the 5.3. Too bad GM is killing the GMT360 platform. IIRC 09/10 is the last year. :(
Tons of modded TBSS's on youtube. Man they sound nice!!

so lemme get this straight, youve got a 4 cylinder car that came with 150 hp thats your race car,and you have a daily driver that came with 400 hp. hmm...i can see your logic.
nice score. now throw a turbo on this thing and show everyone what these things can do.

ive seen some fast TBSSs out there. the place that tuned my car, a guy there had one with heads/cam and exhaust. must have been close to as fast as my camaro.

yeah, there are tons in the mid 12 region. fastest one right now, that is known, is a 10.21. but he's working on something a little more serious he says. wanting 8s, but i think that's shooting pretty high. but here's hopin'

it's a daily driver, it has a full warranty, and I'm not that interested in modding it.
yeah, it will be towing grandma.
Dave nice try w/ the 150hp comment, yeah it came w/ 150hp from the factory floor. It dyno'd stock less than 140hp, then it last dyno'd 432hp, and the whenever this bastard gets back together I'm wanting to squeeze 500-550hp to the wheels out of it, which I know fully well that this is not an outlandish thing to accomplish by any stretch of the word.
Stock TBSS's tend to shoot 300-320hp to the wheels depending on the dyno, and the truck weighs 5000lbs.
I'll stick w/ drag racing grandma when I get around to her again. Yes, I break the car a lot. I also keep on pushing the car another notch higher then it was the previous time it is on the track. If I'm not breaking something I'm not pushing for all it's worth.
The thing about grandma is whenever something breaks I generally see understand and know why it broke, as well as can come up with the reason why it broke, etc. They all generally either have to do with a number of things. I pushed a part beyond what it was meant to handle or it was something to do when I first got the car way back in 2001 having service shops doing minor maintanence/ this was a vehicle myself and three girls learned to drive with a manual tranny in.
Sorry Dave when Grandma is back out, you'll still be seeing her taillights.

Definitely nuts to do in a truck, and I look forward to seeing it.
These things are mean to cruise in though, and with just a few tweaks are awesome to just show some muscle and make the dodge humpers be less throttle happy with their "hemis"

when i first got mine i took it upon myself to embarrass every hemi and 5.3 truck around. but i grew tired of it quick. now i don't even waste my time or gas on one unless they really need some wind out of their sail or they have something done (more than a programmer, CAI, and blowmaster muffler  )

Very nice, and I'm just happy they didn't slaughter the SSs good looks with the fugly '06+ headlights like on the standard TBs. Nothing like have big honking headlights with a huge blank void in the center of them.
I don't think a grand am is worthy enough to get towed by that thing.
Just curious... have you seen his Grand Am?? lmao

john have you seen the HHR SS?? wow, those are horrible. i haven't done my research yet, but i hope they didn't ruin the "SS" moniker with that one.

it's a shame they still come w/ a 4spd auto... that's my only gripe on this thing. it's not even that big of a gripe either.
I want to do an exhaust, but I want to keep it single out and use some burns goodies.

Nice SU.. I like the styling, however I think GM could've thrown a bit more sass into the design..
slick lookin!
They could've, but to be quite honest. I like the styling.
To me it seems that GM just simply shaved the body a bit and smoothed it compared to the regular models. I also like the fact that the lower *(silver)* ducts on the front fascia can be used for brake cooling for added benefit. Which is another mod I will look into and probably fabricate myself instead of spending a buttload from the dealer to add it on.
First two mods already planned. Remove Trailblazer signage, silver shine all Chevy emblems, and a proper IPOD hook up for the stereo.
After that I believe I will end up modifying the existing exhaust. i.e. replace the OEM resonator with a stubby burns stainless piece, replace any crush pipe bends with proper mandrel bends, and get an even less restrictive muffler, than what exists. Eventually following up with some nice headers and fabricating an intake followed with some dyno time to tune the bastard.
I'm also looking to slap on a tranny cooler.
All this in due time though, I'm in no rush as I am enjoying the truck very much in stock form. When I clean her up, I'll snap some fancy schmancy pics in some garage in Vegas.

I had a feeling it wasn't a 4L60E. My tranny in my truck is has a fairly fresh rebuild on it with a few upgrades, but just curious if you know if the 4L70E is a swap for a 4L60E. The 60 is fine for towing with my 4.3 but I have a spare motor I will be building the future and might need a stronger tranny when the time comes. IIRC the 4L80E has a much longer tailshaft.
As for the styling I agree with you Rob. IMO less is more. Smooth, sleek, and simple.

that to be quite honest I don't know. If this info might help I'll add that the towing capacity of this lil SUV is 6800lbs.

keep your current one and have it built by a reputable shop (FLT, RPM come to mind). i think you'd be happier.
these 70s are junk in our application. its probably a 60% failure rate

my wife has a coniption fit everytime i mention towing anything with it (don't ask why...i don't know. that's been the basis for SEVERAL arguments) anyway, since she don't want to tow i'm gonna go all performance: badass tranny with a 3600 stall :evil2: that combined with a AWD should make for a pretty nice launch
