Found myself a project car a 89 240sx coupe...

2004 VQ35 (350Z engine) 18K miles
2004 350z 6spd manual transmission
2006 350z 6spd manual transmission
Eibach ground control coilovers installed
New ES Urethane bushing installed
New ball joints and steering arms installed
Walbro 255lph pump installed
Silvia S13 front end installed with wide fenders, and 3 beam projector headlamps

No rust at all (texas car), needs paint and interior, and of course I'll need to mount the engine then wire it all up. Should keep me busy for a while...more pics in a few weeks when its dropped off.

Heres the before pic when the previous owner bought it, he's done some work to it since but decided to sell it and move on to something else so I got it for a steal, every car I found in my area was either rusted or beat to hell and they wanted more than I paid for this.

Yep the guy thats selling it to me runs his own shop he planned making it a sick ass ride but he had too much going on with work and other projects he had to sell it. He's telling me n/a it should put down around 250-275 whp not bad for a 2600lb car I'd be happy with that

You can glady have dibs at that theres a few snags we'll have to figure out its not a straightforward wiring job by any means I'm sure we can do it though.

Oh I might need to shave a few things too might as well if it needs paint anyway :)

Engine sensor harness to PCM wiring doesn't scare me. Only thing that would be a pain is if the PCM has any of that security key shit... need a Consult II to get it working then.

Just don't shave the door handles, otherwise tracks won't let you race. And yes, we are going to make you race it at least once.

Thats the problem 350z ecu you need the BCM which includes the security system so I think you can use a maxima/altima ecu and avoid all that but I'll need to get it tuned b/c they are programmed for less hp than a 350z. The other problem is there is no speed signal from the trans in the 350z they use the ABS system to generate a speed signal. There are advantages and disadvantages to both I need to research it more but the maxima ecu might be the way to go. A little light reading if anyone is bored/interested http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/207033

I wasnt planning on shaving the door handles.

Hmmm... so is the security shit integrated into the PCM or BCM? It will just be a matter of getting the right combo. Personally I wouldn't care about the difference in HP... will be minimal difference compared to the potential hassle of talking some dealer service dept into setting up security. Otherwise, will just need pinout and factory service manual diagrams for whatever vehicle the BCM came from so we can hotwire all the BCM inputs and outputs. Let it just sit there all dumb... just needs to keep the PCM happy.

What about standalone? Is there anything worthwhile on the market for the VQ? That would be a hell of a lot easier if one exists.

Wouldn't worry about the speedo... can stick a reluctor wheel somewhere. Or GPS based speedo for laziness, lol.

Yea probably right too much of a hassle b/c you need to get the key and have the dealer set that all up think I'll just go with the max ecu. Standalone has 2 problems with the VQ the drive by wire which you can convert to cable, and VVT is the major problem nothing can handle it as well as the stock ecu. AEM does make a standalone but its 2k and its not perfect so screw that.
