Last Thursday was a joyus occasion, or a sad one depending on how you look at it. I was in need of something newer and more comfortable than my trusty, '99 GT and I found it will browsing a local dealer. My little brother needs a car and agreed to buy my Grand Am for a princely sum. So to cut it short, I no longer drive a Pontiac and instead...drive this:

It's a 2001 Audi A6 Quattro. It's lovely in every possible way and much more suited to my need than the Grand Am. I loved my GT but It's time to move one. I am old and fat and I need a luxury car to haul me around. I've already put 600 miles on it in a week :D.

Very nice!

That is one clean interior; someone really took care of it.

Yeah you can practically eat off the seats. Floor mats were a bit dirty but they're easy enough to replace anyway, so big whoop. Best part is the handling, even though the suspension it a bit softer than I would prefer it certainly makes my old GT feel like driving a Mac truck through the twisties.

The A4 is a good car, but I was underwhelmed by the power for the 1.8t and the size of the interior (it's tiny). They're well made, but I wanted something 4 people could fit in to. If you're set on the A4 I would highly recommend upgrading to the 2.8 (or S4 w/2.7t if you have deep pockets). Not only is the 2.8L a damn sight more powerful the 2.8 equipped models are generally better optioned.

Mine is an A6 2.8 with a 5speed shi(f)ttronic automatic. The engine and transmission are buttery smooth and the shifttronic can be a little fun. The only qualm I have about it is the 2-1 down shift when you're coming to a stop can be a bit harsh. Though if I had to make the choice again I'm not sure I would hold out for a 6-speed.
