View Full Version : Wide floormats to cover carpet damage?

I'd like to somehow cover the worn carpet on both front seat floorboards. It's the narrow band that goes from the edge of the mat to the door.
Apparently the previous owner didn't keep his left foot on the mat much. Is there a way to hide that damage? Some kind of extra-wide floormats that extend a few inches wider than the stock mats?
Thanks for any help.

Get some Lloyd mats..Do a search on the web and you will find them

Thanks hotrod6.
Checked out their site but I'm still confused as to whether Lloyd's are wider than the ones I have. They don't specify the dimensions.
I need something to extend an inch or two leftward up the lip near the door to cover the damage (vice-versa for passenger side). Otherwise I'm not hiding the damage, I'm making the damage more obvious sitting next to the nice new Lloyd's mats :-)

They cover more than the factory mats..Maybe someone who has them will chime in and post a pic up..

Last I checked Lloyd's mats were pretty expensive, almost as much as you can buy a new carpet for online, shaped like the original. I'd look into that, it's been covered before so do a search on it. I would for you but my internet's being dumb.

True - it would be > $100 for the Lloyds.
I found a carpet replacement site but the how-to-install (http://stockinteriors.com/Install.asp) seemed a bit daunting.
Couldn't find anything searching GAOC - anyone have experience doing this themselves or is it better left to pros?

Found pictures of actual Lloyds GA mats online - as hotrod6 said they are wider (likely wide enough to fix my problem). Thanks again everyone.

If you can get a new carpet and have a day to take apart the inside to get it out, Id go that route. Carpets are just as cheap as the mats and if you do this you will actually retain the value of the car rather then doing a cover up. Probably the HARDEST part is getting the back bottom seats back on. Everybody that has done it knows what Im talking about.

Thanks bballr4567, think I'll go with the mats for now then build up my courage (and bank account) to tackle carpet replacement a little later. Plus I still have 2 young kids that might do some additional damage to the carpet. :D
FWIW I'm going to buy from GAOC advertiser pfyc.com (they promptly answered my questions and had actual GA images).

Quick followup - Lloyd mats fit perfectly - even the backseat mats are customized to the car. Includes anchors that are not shown in the pfyc.com images.

Tried to get the anchors in today but they're too high - they extend above the grommet so I'm doing without. *Almost* perfect I guess.
