Got it installed today finally after a setback or two. I'm using a Cherry Bomb Vortex Model #88111, the now-gone SLP overaxle pipe, and the generic PFYC stainless tips. I'm working on getting a halfway decent video, so bear with the one I posted please. It's loud but not too loud, and I can't hear it while at cruising RPM's.

Yes the car is dirty, it's started warming up, snow is melting, and I live on a dirt road. I'll get better pics when I wash and clay in a few weeks, once this shit is gone.

Crappy video for now, I'll get a better one at school tomorrow or Thursday. According to my dad, my car is now as loud as his 67 Chevelle.
I had the tips spaced within the boundaries for cutouts on a GT, one as a guideline and two you never know what treasures are found in a jy.

Ok so I cant see it but it sounds good.

Plus did I read that right where you said you used a LAPTOP to record it??? Classic!!

Hey, gotta be resourceful, my digital camera doesn't do sound, my video camera needs firewire to import. I'll be getting new video with the school's tech camera this week.

Sounds pretty good Blackhawk! Did you sand off the black paint on the exhaust tips?

Blackhawk

Nope, left it as it was, I'm sure he wirebrushed the backs to weld them on but other than that there was nothing to remove.

I think I'm going to need to sand/wirebrush them. I don't know why they came painted anyway. I would think it would look better with no paint.

Where is the paint, on the back? Hedman does the same thing, I'm guessing it's so you have less to polish and so that area of polished steel stands out mroe than if you can trace it all the way back.

Yeah, it's like halfway through the tips and back. I might just leave it alone, most people will never see it anyway!

Exactly. It most likely is raw stainless under the paint, unpolished.

Sounds good Cody! About time you accomplished this mod

Ohh and BTW that sucks you live on a dirt road :(

Lol, for a while I was at school from 7:45AM-10PM or later, so I couldn't get things done. I'll have a better clip today that wasn't taken with a laptop.

Now I just have to get my exhaust notched a bit in one spot, it's too close to the crossmember and hits on some bumps. Not too big of a deal, I have pressure bends anyways.

Sounds much nicer :)

The biggest problem now is that crossmember, it likes to hit. I'm also not sure if it was just that certain RPM or if there was something going on, but it almost sounded like grinding (didn't sound like wheel bearing howling, it sounded like somebody new on a manual) going through town, but once I got to a higher speed it went away.

I also noticed that before even reading your remarks about it. Strange. Maybe just the microphone of the camera or something, who knows. lol

How much did you end up paying to get it all installed?

Blackhawk
03-28-2008, 08:08 AM
About $400 for everything, including the install, which was $60 (I was charged for one hour to bend and weld it up)
Jamie, the grinding sound was a one time thing, it didn't happen while I was filming this clip. It's probably a combination of the microphone, the wind, and my noisy lifters. We'll see if it makes the same noise tonight before work, it may just be constantly rattling on the crossmember. It shouldn't have been so close because I used the SLP overaxle pipe, but whatever.

OK, I looked under the car again last night with a trouble light and it looks like the overaxle pipe just needs to be tweaked, it's sitting a little high in front and rattling the heat shield, and it's sitting a little low in back and hitting the crossmember on bumps. Doesn't seem like it should be anything too major.

To fix the banging I had to do some modifying of the hangers also. Just had to keep moving it around to found out why it was hitting.

DEAR GOD that sounds damn good!!! Good choice for sure! If someone had that muffler I would of seriously chosen it.

When I go to get the banging fixed tomorrow I'm going to see if they can move the tips back too. I measured from hanger to the end of the tip and my exhaust sticks out 3" farther than Derek's GT! I'll get it moved back 2" probably, shouldn't cost much if anything.
