... GM parts or similar whereby you might be able to get me a deal on a set of four (4) #88974915 Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors for my wife's 2008 Vibe? ... basically, I am not willing to pay what they want at the dealer so I was hoping to get a "deal" from someone on here, if possible ... simply put, I have the set that came on the car but I want to put on a set of rims and tires on the car for summer and will need another set of sensors so the monitoring system in the car doesn't show an error light all the time ... anyway, thanks for your time :)

Just use your pressure gauge for the three weeks of summer that you guys get....

If I didn't get a light on in the dash saying the computer lost contact with the wheel sensors, I would ;) ... it is going to be law in the upcoming near future (in Canada at least) where all cars and trucks will need to have these sensors ... annoying being GM wants $188 each for them :pissed2:

Yes but I am referring to all new cars needing to come with them ... on certain cars, TPMS were always an option but now they will eventually be standard equipment

i called my local pontiac dealer and they didn't show tire pressure sensors for an 07/08 vibe. but they had the part # priced at $169. damn, those are expensive little boogers

Kelly, I'm not familiar with how they work, but could you swap the sensors from one set of wheels to the other when you change over in the spring/fall? Or does that require breaking down the rims/tires?

Actually Shawn, the sensor serves two purposes as it sends a signal to the car about what the pressure is, plus, it is also the valve stem ... in this regard, yes, you can remove the sensor and put it on other rims but each time you do this, you also require a 'installation kit' or something (I am told) so they seal properly  ... anyway, the sensors are sensitive so changing them from rim to rim or even changing over rims every winter and summer can be tricky :( ... it really sucks that before you even add up the cost of the new rims and tires, you have to allow for $500-$800 in the costs of sensors just to make sure the light on the dash stays out :(

For interest sake, this is what the sensors look like, although, they may differ slightly from model to model ... unfortunately, the ones used in the 2008/2009 Vibe are specific and are only used in this particular model :(

i just thought of a solution to your light problem...

electrical tape. it's black so it'll kinda blend in with the cluster and it's dark enough the light won't be noticeable

how'd you get that part number? i'm wanting a part number for some brake pads but don't know how to get it. dealer won't give me any numbers off them.

Or could you just pull the bulb? :D That is what I did on an old car I did a motor swap/5 speed conversion that I couldn't get the check engine light to go off.

I have these same things on my Jeep. When I put on my 22's I just swapped the sensors. I've done this twice and I've had no problems. Albeit, ours are only $40 per sensor.

:spit:

nope. there's a wire that wraps around the rims and to unwind it you have to jack the car up and put it in reverse about every other week

Alright, lol...

So the valve stem has an infinite life battery to send signals to the car?... I'm just getting used to all this fancy fuel injection crap, let alone wireless tire pressure sensing valve stems

according to the screen those were the only type for that vehicle. I went onto ebay and found someone who was selling an 06 trailblazer SS and took the vin # our computers at work require the use of a vin# every time. so i looked them up with that # and those were the pads that fit that code for that vehicle. there was one other pair, though it didnt have the B4U code that symbolizes the sports suspension....hope that helps....they are expensive as well....

no kidding. i've been shopping around and reading other people experiences with different pads before i commit to buying any. i like the bite my stocker's have, just don't like the price tag to replace them so often :P

also, was the the front or rear? i'm guessing it was the front, if so could you get me the part number for the rear too? if it's not a big deal :)
