hey there owners

well my sunfire was running and the darn thing just started to lose power gradually over about 10 miles and finally will no longer run past idle, but yet it idles perfect it seem like it is starving for air, i changed the tps sensor the map was giving good singal and i have no check engine light. so now i am so confused and dont want to go out and buy a three hundred dollar fuel pump if there is something else i am missing.

i just replaced the coil packs and ran great for a day and now nothing. could the fuel pump not pumping enough volume cause the engine to not rev watch this and listen at you tube or just type in the search "96 pontiac sunfire wont accelerate" hopefully some one can help me out!!!

I am going to guess at either a clogged catalitic converter, or a bad fuel filter.

After the car has been running a while, look under the car and see if the cat is allmost red hot, or just abnormally hot... also, listen to the tail pipe and see if it sounds funny when you try to rev it up.

Also, when your try to rev, does it stall out, or just not go anywhere?? make any difference in neutral or drive??
