hello,
i need help with this, my grand am 2002 ecotec 2.2l was working fine until yesterday. i was steping out from my place, car started fine but when i was going to turn to right side, suddenly stop and after that didnt want to start anymore. i noticed that it look like battery was completly drain out but is weird at the same time because it started without any problem.
somebody said that could be the computer together with ignition coil.
could that be the problem, any help:???:

I would try charging the battery before changing any parts.

'02 4-cyl, 6-yrs old, about 72k miles?
Neither the 'Security' light nor the SES/CE light is 'on', or you would have mentioned that.
So you performed the Battery Service per the FAQ tab, http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/faq.php?faq=maint_repair#faq_batt_serv
And, you've had the battery checked by the local parts store, and they say it's OK.
* * *
I'm confused, because you first say, "suddenly stopped and after that didn't want to start anymore"
Then you say, "....it started without any problem."
So, are you saying the car won't start now?
If not, HOW won't it start:
1. There is no electricity to anything, the courtesy lights don't even work when the door is opened?
2. The courtesy lights work, and the headlights work, but when you turn the key to 'start':
* a. There is nothing, not even a faint 'click' sound from under the hood?
* b. There is 'click' sound but the engine doesn't turn over with the starter motor?
* c. The engine turns over, but it doesn't 'fire' and run on its own?
* * *
The problem is prolly NOT with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module, the engine-tranny 'puter), since that thing is practically bulletproof.
And when it does fail, the symptoms are much greater than an engine that dies.
The problem *might* be the Ignition Control Module, which sets atop the engine and contains the two ignition coils.
The problem is probably NOT 'the coils', since there are 2, operaitng 2 cylinders each, and when one fails you usually still get (crappy) performance out of the other.
We need more information, so please answer all these questions.

is a grand am 02 4-cyl, 70k miles?
i said, at the beginning start without any problem.........after i put it out from garage and turn wheel to the right hand.....car suddenly stop and did not want to work anymore. at that point when i wanted to start it again, i noticed that lights on dash board were fade like when battery is dead. is weird behavior considering that at the beginning started ok.
The courtesy lights work, and the headlights work, but when you turn the key to 'start':
now, if i try to turn it on, and is more like this :
The engine turns over (belt or distribution belt on the side), but it doesn't 'fire' or run on its own!!
if i keep the key on the start contact, i see the 'Security' light and the SES/CE light is 'on', and the other like when you start the car for first time.
battery, i checked myself and seems fine. well it was fine, i never had changed and it has never gave me any trouble...so i dont think that might be the battery because still, would work if i booosted or something.
appreciate the help,
thanks
