Stubborn trunk release

Any ideas out there? I have to push the trunk release as many as 20 times to open the trunk electrically. When I push the button, I hear a click on the left side of the dash behind the access panel, but I'm not sure what is going on. I have disassembled the lock mechanism and lubed the daylights out of it and on the bench with a power supply, it works fine. I am confused!

that click you hear is the realy. Check with a multimeter and see if your getting power at the trunk, and how much. also is the trunk adjusted right?

I'm thinking bad wiring connection. Or maybe the relay is bad. Making noise is NOT a guarentee it's working. Found that out the hard way :D
