 Hey, My GA SE stared making a extremly loud upper-end noise that cycles on and off... it didnt start small and evolve it was instant and constant. It sounds like my engine is about to explode, with and without load... we eliminated the flywheel, timing, power-steering, and all lower end... I'm thinking it may be a broken valve spring, but wondering if anyone had ever had the same problem... please help!!!

You're going to have to run a compression test to figure out which cylinder has the broken valve train parts. If you're surprisingly low on compression on a cylinder or two, or if you're less than about 150psi on all of them, you need surgery.

I'm guessing by now it's already bent a valve by hitting a piston if the problem is indeed a broken valve spring. If it's a broken lifter or something else, you might be luckier and not have to replace valves.

Normal compression for that 4-cyl should be 180-190 (brand new pretty much) so make sure your around that psi.

Also what kind of noise, are we talking a ticking sound? Whining sound? or...
