Marta, might want to open a second savings account. VWs aren't known to be the most reliable vehicles, and when they do break they are anything but cheap to repair. Ask any ex-VW owner.

good potential mods for that baby too, I have been researching already, just with an ECU chip you can get 50 more horse out of it, and I can't remember what else Cory told me but he said there's a way to get 300 torque to the wheels with some other mods.. good platform for some modding fun anyway :)

50HP from just an aftermarket ECU?? :bsflag:

yups.. Audi has a similar chip for the A4s too.. how much actually gets to the wheels who knows, but a nice boost at the crank.

remember that this is a boosted car, so you can increase the boost by a couple of PSI and get lots more power.

Im with TA^Guy, im not feeling the side stripes, if u removed that than it would look nice. I was looking at GTI's (02-05 model 1.8T 5 spd) when i was looking for a car but couldnt fidn anything that matched what i wanted. The new ones do look good tho. why didnt u get the R32? ;)

crazeyGT
04-12-2008, 12:24 PM
well the R32's are a "bit" more expensive  and I am not all for the speed , as it is nice i am more cosmetics than anything else .. and its all paint btw so lol

Looks good Marta. Not sure about the stripe but I think it would look better if you left it on. Don't forget to read the Owner's Manual, you will find that that motor needs Full Synthetic Oil ONLY. Most German motors are like that especially if it's boosted.

... other than the stripe, I seen one of those today sitting at a place here for sale today :)

Darrin, my '84 Buick Grand National recommend sythetic oil. There was a decal about it and it's change intervals right on the sunvisor.

I remember having this conversation with customers from when I worked at Jiffy Lube. They thought I was just trying to get them to spend more money till I had them pull out there owner's manual and I showed it to them, they changed there attitude with me after they read it for themselves

Having owned 2 VW's, and still keeping close tabs o the local VW club, I will back that statement up 110%... even the new MK5's have their issues.....

At least there's warranty... I sunk nearly 2k in last year in the GA and she still is all messed up ... I guess all depends on luck

So you didn't get the manual.... so you have the DSG? If so I think you are better off with that than the normal stick. Nice dub for sure!

Wow Marta! nice VW! do you still have the GA?

99blackse, I think she was referring to the owner's manual, not a stick shift.

ex vw owner here I third that statement

crazeyGT

so the "brand" has issues, its not like there is a brand out there that is 100% perfect .. especially if it breaks... i know how much I paid out of my packet to keep fixing the GA and she still breaks .. just a chance we all take when getting something .. but lucky me i dont look at it that way... i dont let other people tell me what i should and should not get just because of their opinions .. if i did i wouldnt be driving at all ... as long as i like it, it all it matters to me .. ((trying to make me happy , not everyone around me))

TA^Guy

Point is, when they do break it's not usually a simple or cheap fix.

If you think a 7 yearold Grand Am is expensive to maintain just give the VW a few years.

Be prepaired for a good laugh the first time you try to unlock the doors in the winter and all the windows roll down on your snow covered car. lol

You are correct, and I am a little slow

It only has to last me few years, after I am done with school, hopefully that wont be an issue .. and I did find a manual .. it was in a glove box on top, where there is a case for it ... i would have never found it , lol ... just by luck lol
