I'm thinking that eventually i'll get myself one of these, so I might as well ask now. ;)
There are so many different models out there (Porter Cable, Makita, UDM, blah, blah, blah)... which one is most versatile, easiest to handle, compatible with many pads, etc.? And overall, which polisher is the best bang for buck?

PC has been around for a while, quite a bit of pads to choose from (Edge 2k, LC CCS, etc.). Not as much power as the UDM (better) or the Flex (best) though. Not sure if Makita makes a DA, you might be thinking of their rotary?
For starting out I would say either PC or UDM.

I've seend coupe working with a Makita in a vid, IIRC. it sure looked like a DA.
The only way I'd get the Flex is if I won it, I'm not willing to dish out that much dough.
Maybe I'll just go with the PC, or UDM like you say.
BTW I heard the PC is noisy. Are all DA's like that?
EDIT: scratch the second sentence. I'm retarded. (note to self: google BEFORE posting.)
More editing: Does anyone think I achieve good swirl removing results if I slap a heavy wool pad on a PC and use Meguiar's M105 compound (vewy vewy potent :) ) with the highest speed setting?
But i'm talkin' SWIRLS, yo. HEAVY and PLENTY. My GA is sooo beat up. I'm gonna post some pics soon.
